Never.
Sounds like it would be something nice to experience, though.
Of course it depends on how much importance you want to put on the word "love," but you could say I was in love with a girl near the end of my junior year of high school. Ahhhhhhhh it was nice. I hadn't felt that way again until...well, now ;).
I thought I was in love a few times in High School, but didn't really fall in love until 1998... which puts me in the 19-20 category.
did you vote?
Why wouldn't I have?
well its had 19 veiws and 3 votes
ok, 55 views and 8 votes? wtf is wrong with you people?
Did you think this post was about getten some loven? sheesh, you could still vote even if you were looking for a thread on hot naked loven.
When I was 3, I fell in love with Ms Piggy.
/me votes 15-16
Heres the story on it. It's pretty fucked up =D
Unfortunatly I fall in love very easilly, and I mean LOVE, not crushes or anything, I give a piece of my heart to so many people, I have lost most of it, and only seem to find it when I'm with those people. That's the way I am, and it is pretty self-destructive.
So around 13-16
*Votes in the 15-16 category.

Shut the fuck up. Quit rubbing it in you bastards.
17!
First time I was in love? Like........8.
>_< Its a long, long, long story that i don't really feel like sharing! hooray!
No person can truly be in love at 8.
It's simply not possible to be mature enough to understand it.
same here, self destructive indeed.Quote:

I have a girlfriend right now that I love, but I'm not so sure she does back anymore. 17-18, anyway.
Well, you might say that about age 17-18 as well, but here we are.Quote:

8 /= 18.
I don't care how mature the 8 year old is, the aren't on par with an 18 year old.
Well, this is just a message board so I'm not going to get into it......but MVS, you don't know the half of it. You really don't have a right to dictate when the "average age is to fall in love." or whatever. I'm not talking about maturity, I'm talking about love. Since when was love mature? oO;
.....yeah.
Oh, I'm sorry, did I grossly underestimate the loving capabilities of 3rd graders? Geez, I know I didn't accept the whole, I loved my doggie in 3rd grade or I had a crush on Mr. Smith, my 3rd grade teacher thing, but, hmmm...
It's okay, you're just ignorant. One day, I'm sure some nice man will come along and love you for at least 15 minutes, before realizing the smacktard you are.
In short, anyone that thinks they were in 'love', real love, at age 8, is a retard.
Pshaw... you obviously underestimate the maturity level of the average Hot Topic shopping want to be Japanese video game playing teenage girl.Quote:

oO whoa......dude.......calm down....I'm not like, calling you a fucktard or ignorant. I'm just saying you don't know my story....For one thing, I think guys and girls have very different views on love, and guys often don't fall in love until a later age all together.
ps-I've been with my boyfriend for like 3 years now. Before you make accusations, please....don't jump to weird conclusions.
exactly =DQuote:

MVS, you charming bastard you. I think I'm love right now.
Anyone that thinks they are in love at age 8 is a retard.
If you happen to fall into that category, that's unfortunate for you.
I know. I'm such a charmer. It's too bad we didn't meet in 3rd grade, we could have had something magical, provided you had tits and a vagina, I mean.Quote:

I'd like to come up with something witty to this, but I can't. You win, you're like.....king of the forum now. Or something.
and yes........88mph, i know you were being sarcastic -_-;
Nope, you're just retarded.
I don't think that 3rd graders can define love, let alone be in it.
I'm sure you're the exception to all of that, and a magical snowflake, yadda yadda yadda and so forth and so on.
And, I thank you, you are all invited to the upcoming Coronation. Until then, enjoy, my minions.

I put down NA. It might have been 16, but that was cut just short of my ever really knowing :/

As of right now, NA. I wouldn't be surprised if something came up in two or so years, though.
omfgmagical.
Ahhhhhh...14. I actually went out with her for a couple of months, then we broke up. We still talk, but I don't feel the same.
If the first time I fell in love equates with the first time I got laid, which it does, 17 to 18 sector.

I mean, so you didn't love your parents at the age of 8?
You can argue that it isn't the same, but think about it for a sec: don't you have strong feelings for them that you can'd describe at that age? It's like a feeling of attachment and shit. You rely on them. They mean something strong to you. And such and so forth.
Define Love.
Food for thought. (I know you mean "in love" but...)
Peanut Butter Wolf is a God.
Obviously, I'm referring to the love that is between 2 people, and not paternal/maternal. I'm talking about loving a girl or a guy, and all that stuff.
You rely on your parents because they take care of you. That's dependence. I'm not saying that you don't love them then, I'm sure you do, but, it's not the same thing as the love you feel for a person that you want to marry or that sort of thing.
NA for me. Surprised at the number of votes that has. How old are people here?
16, high school sweetheart.
I met my wife about 6 years later and it is totally different. Stronger, more manageable, deeper, better.
High school relationships are overrated. :p
Well, you can love people without wanting to marry them, y'know. It's a dicey def. But I know what you're hinting at.Quote:

When someone asks you "When was the first time you fell in love?", are you seriously telling me you think of your parents?
I'm hinting that you are arguging a point that is semantic and nonsensical.
OMG! YOU ARE SO COOL!!Quote:

Semantics, yeah.
I'm hinting that I agree with your point, yo.
When I made my original post I was thinking "well, can a link be established between emotions involved with loving your parents and loving others." It's slight, but yeah.
I'm hinting that you are right, but the original track of thought was not non-sensical.
well a big reason I started this poll was because ive noticed a difference between the concepts of love between myself/my college friends, and my sister who is still in highschool and her friends.
Some of the things I've noticed are that people who are not in love are less likely to give people they are close to a chance. I think this has a lot to do with them not knowing what they are looking for.
The friend wanting to date a friend thing is a classic example. Friend wants to date friend because of love/crush. Other friend does not want to date friend because they do not have feelings for them and thus think that it will automatically fail and lose that friend.
To a lot of kids, friendships are the most intense relationships they have and thus do not want to lose them. The fact that the person not wanting to date not haivng reached the age of the typical "able to love" person, does not help. They have no understanding of what the other is going through and are only thinking of the possable loss.
The story is slightly different for people who are out of highschool. Even though there are still people who go by the old way of doing things, you have a increasing amount who do not believe they have to have feelings for someone to give them a chance. Adults, and I use that word losely, tend to use the dating process itself to figure out if they love someone. That being the case older people are more likely to date friends.
Ofcorse it should also be said that regardless of the age of the friend, they will not date you if they do not find you actractive. Being a annoying dumbass kills your chances to. Ofcorse if you are a annoying dumbass you're probably not really that persons friend.
Anyone have any ideas on other polls I could take for data to investigate these theories and observations?
In the wise words of Buss Lightyear
"Booster you know what Freind means!?! Its another word FOR LOSER"
His mother is dead... you nasty bastard!
And here I thought you were a man of God. ;)
You'll never get to play basketball with Jesus by putting your dick in dead people.
Love between a man and a woman or love between a man and a fine cuban cigar?
Frost, is your name Dave?
If so, this is for you:
There once was a man named Dave,
Who dug up an old whore from a grave,
she was moldy as shit,
and missing one tit,
but think of the money he saved.
Did anyone make a Haddaway joke yet?
Wait now, who says 8 yr olds cannot love? I think their love is a lot more pure than ones of older ages. When you get old...sex gets in the way and confuses the issue at hand. I think 8 yr olds have just as much clear of an idea of what love does the older crowd....as in they both don't fucking have a clue.
I disagree.
When I was 6, in first grade, a girl named Nicole and I would always be 'playing with the Play Doh' over at a table in the far end of the room during recess. She hugged and kissed me quite a bit.
Dang, why couldn't I have carried those mackin' skills with me into adolescene and adulthood? I'd be doing plenty more creative things with Play Doh and the ladies by now instead of making crappy looking clay cars
This would carry a little bit more influence (a bit over 0.0004%), were you not a virgin.Quote:

I was 18 when I first fell in love.
Incedentally, I talk often with the woman with whom I was in love. I call her "wife." :D
is it like some law of TNL that if a thread can't be turned into a argument that it will turn into drivial?

Satsuki you ever plan on telling us the story? Other than people asking to see pictures of your boobs like every other female poster here you probably won't get much hell for it.

Being a virgin doesn't matter ;p I have friends, and know how skanky people can be. Everyone around the world seems confused, The divorce rate is through the roof. Not many even know what love is, and sex really complicates those matters.
It's one of the reasons I stay a virgin. Well, I've done some stuff that might make me less of a virgin (but still a virgin in 98% of the world's eyes), so I can say a biiiiiit. While I was sexual....although I'd only do such things with someone I loved, the act itself wasn't as loved-filled as I would have imagined. And I think most have no love in such at all, so I am lucky SOME love was involved.
People shouldn't lie to themselves. 90% of the time you get sexual it's for selfish horny reasons.
Little kids don't have this affliction, which makes everything all more pure.
And you can go off about "yeah, I'll believe you the day I see 7 yr old Jimmy marry 6 yr old Kimmy". Meh. What is marriage? Some stupid meaningless contract? Fuck marriage.
I loved someone when I was 10. Yes, 10. I loved her until I was about 15, when she began changing to an aggressive drug user who slept around at any given chance. I loved before I had any sexual tension. Before all that bullshit. It was pure. I loved her for her. She made me happy. Just getting letters from her in elementary school made me melt. I'd go home and daydream about just spending time with her...watching tv, playing video games, holding hands, talking, hugging, brushing each other's hair. Etc. There wasn't a second when she wasn't in the back of my mind. For the most part, she was in the FRONT. That's love, to me.
And I've only ever loved around 2-3 people in my life. One was borderline...
so your saying you are not gay?
sorry, it was that joke, or asking if the girl was one of santas elves or if she baked elf shape cookies.
haahaha, I told everyone before I don't really have a preference...I just HAAAAAAAATE vaginas ;p
Oh, and she was for sure an elf :) And made the best cookies. With poop sprinkles and with blood tampon icing.
what about the boobers?
did you eat those cookies?
she was 10! she had no booberz ;p
of course I ate the cookies, silly ;p
if she was 10 where did she get the bloody, ah hell, forget it
Love or lust, we live and die alone, no matter how hard you try to become part of another person. Live for yourself, everyone else might just be imaginary anyway :) Love is such an uneven, selfish thing I hardly think it deserves the praise it gets

Yes, we all die "alone" (ie. physically by ourselves), but we all hope not to die alone, in the sense of with no one in our lives. That would truly be sad and pathetic.
But love, this thing is worth more than just that. While love is somewhat selfish (and let's face it, humans by nature are selfish beings), it isn't wholly so. Love is a two way street. You receive and reciprocate.
Love is also not easy. It took me a good 22 years to find someone I can say with 99% accuracy that I love. (I'm still surprised I'm the only one in the poll to answer 21-22) No one is ever truly "Perfect", even though this girl is nearly perfect for me, at least. Nor is it something where you can get it and maintain it for free. You have to work at it. Constantly. I've been around enough relationships (and now my own) to say this.
Have you ever known what it feels like to have someone, not friend nor family, simply love you? Someone who actually adores you and would do nearly anything to please you? To some (like myself) it's almost an unbelieveable, magical feeling. To have someone accept you for who you are, flaws and all, is one of the world's greatest gifts. I honestly believe that. Love is not overly praised, it's just misused, mistreated and misunderstood.

Love is wonderful! :)
indeed it is.
fair Harvard, we join in thy jubilant throng...
too many people here talk like that, and it's depressing as hell. So cold and calculated when it comes to affairs of emotion.
Yet, emotion takes over in all aspects social and otherwise. But I'm getting away from the thread.
Love isn't possible if you don't think it is. You make the statement true by thinking it is.
Just as you make love exist by believing in it, just like religion, or any other idea. As such, it exists as something completely different in each man's mind, it has no truth or reality beyond what the individual chooses to believe.
Besides its easier to scorn love than open yourself to its abuses.
I am in love now. ^_^
Yeah, Bahn and I are even thinking about having a kid...
OMFG! IT TURNED BLUE!
whoo hoo. we had a sonic!
Mine was this girl I met in French class when I was 14, in 9th grade. Beautiful (almost scary-attractive), fantastic personality, and a junior, a cheerleader, 17, I think - she knew me from when I was 7 or 8. We spent most of my freshman year talking constantly - I think what allowed me to be so open with her was the fact that I never, in a million years, imagined that she'd ever be interested in me. I was able to, sort of, write her off, since she seemed unreachable.
Anyways, about 6 months into the school year, she started coming onto me pretty heavily, and I had no idea what to do (I was 14 - completely confused). I think I remember reading her poetry I wrote and telling her that I loved her, and she got the idea a few weeks later. Completely crushed me - I kept thinking about her regularly, even through 3 other long-ish relationships.
Something nice, though - I ran into her in a bar a few months ago, and we've been talking a good bit recently. She's sort of become a friend, and I've figured out that we probably wouldn't work together - sort of reassurring, let me slay a little personal demon that had been following me for 8 or 9 years.
A wise man in mind, a weakling and coward in heart.Quote:
