Give me your thoughts and impressions on these two shows. I like both of them, even though the Buffy series should've of ended at the sixth season, with her leap of death. As for Angel, well it's decent. I'm glad it comes on 9pm.

Where's Korly when ya need 'em...
Never seen either.
Eh...I think Angel is better than Buffy. 'Cause Angel has a better sense of humor and is less serious sometimes, which is good. But I haven't seen either in a while, it could've changed.
Angel rules. I didn't watch this past season though, because it was on the same time as the Sopranos for half the season. So I have to wait a few months until Season 5(?) is out on dvd! :)
I watched some of each, I had no real interest in watching them regularly though.
Plus I hated what they did with Oz's werewolf character in Buffy, the first style they had was good... not the best but a hell of a lot better then what they changed it to
Angel has kicked so much ass this season--poor Buffy is lagging behind. Too many sappy storylines in Buffy. Angel has gone all out this season in terms of action, effects and storyline. you should definitely try to catch up if you haven't watched. There has been demonic possession, pseudo-incest, eternal night, slayer vs. Angelus, major character death, and attempted patricide all in this season.
Angel is the definite victor this season. though its pretty late in the game to start watching it now, (at least for this season) you should try to get a hold of this past seasons (and a summary of last seasons) episodes if you want to be in the know.
I definitely prefer Angel to Buffy. I started watching Angel midway through the first season, since I didn't know he even had a show, and I had just watched Buffy for the first time and it came on after. In my opinion, it came into its own during season two, and since then has pushed the envelope more than Buffy has. It actually has a more tangible sense of progression than Buffy, and deals with more adult themes than Buffy does, which is part of the reason why I like it so much more. I could give spoilers for the next few episodes, but I will just say you won't believe some of the shit coming up.
You mean, the beast's master and the baby.
i recently started watching and i'm a big fan

Angel season premiere in 10 minutes!
Of course, I missed the last two episodes of last season of Angel, so I'm bound to be lost like I was during Smallville's premiere...
This premiere was good start to Angel and his team becoming the leaders of Wolf, Ram and Heart. the story was good, the new female character is somewhat hot. Spike showing up in the end with Harmony saying "blondie bear" was good.
The new girl is cute, but my eyes are still on Fred :)
Looks like Spike is going to be a main character on the show this season (being listed in the opening is a good indication) and not just a side character - most excellent.
Spyke, must. die!
Does anyone know who the new Female Character is?
No. She's alright. Spike coming back was cool. A lot of people from the Buffy series are supposed to make appearances in this season. I think Buffy, and Willow for sure.
Not sure about Oz or anybody else.

Not that I follow up w/this or anything. :p
I have friends that follow the seasons religiously, but i dont see the real greatness behind it, I still find it the slightest bit entertaining.
How the fug did Spike come back?? Didnt he fry??
He was trapped in some gem. Angel gave a large speech about doing things their way no matter what. He said Wolf Ram and Heart was a weapon that they just haven't mastered yet, but they will.
Until then they do things their way. While he was saying this he opened a mail envelope (yellow) and an amulet or something fell out and a tornado materialized Spike, who seemed pretty pissed off.
Then the secretary popped in through the background and said Blondie Bear and it ended.
I believe Spike is a ghost, but I'm not sure.Quote:

I guess we'll know for sure this week. I thought it was a great premire, seemed a little darker this year. With Angel killing some humans & all.
By the way, I'm a huge Angel/Buffy fanboy. I think I've even read half the novels (some of which are fantastic).
Man, I stopped watching 2 seasons ago because of the Sopranos and won't start again because I'll be lost. The DVDs can't come soon enough!
I'm glad he's not.Quote:

I really like Angel. I'll probably start becomming a more faithful watcher now that I've been exposed to a heap of it. (first season in one or two weeks, plus maybe the second if I get it)
My interest was peaked because Space (a channel in Canada) plays the thing from 11 - 12 and when I have an early day the next morning I usually hit the hay in that timeframe anyway.
This, Futurama and the Simpsons are really the only DVDs I "collect". I'm interested to see how the 3rd and 4th seasons turn out. How many seasons are there of Buffy altogether? Like 10, I'm estimating?
7 seasons of Buffy. It peeked at the end of the third season, 4 was good but after that it's just ok IMO.
If anyone is really into both series and likes to read I can sugest a few really good novels. Some rival the show itself.
What are they about? Just Buffy? I'd pass on the reading.
Last nights episode was definitely cool. Spike controlling the dead necromancer to take a few pot shots at Angel was awesome.
"Spike!? That was you punching me?"
"I had to get a few licks in. Dr's been dead since he hit the table."
Great show. Spike is definitely one of the best character in the entire series. An evil good guy.
Maybe is Whedon and Greenwhault wrote the books, I'd like it. I like what they've done with the universe.

I will agree that Angel is now MUCH better than Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But in the beginning when those shows were white-hot, Buffy was the best thing on TV. And I also agree that Buffy the show should have ended Season 6. I also didn't like the whole,"Ooh, I have another sister that I didn't know about and now she's a Key thing." I haven't watched lately, but all I know is that it probably still sucks from when I last watched.
Just bought Angel Season 2 on DVD. Can't wait until February.
Ok I was wrong, never said I knew for sure though.Quote:

As for the books, they arn't written by Joss or David but remember that 95% of the shows arn't either. A lot of authors do them but my favs are Christopher Golden, Nancy Holder & Jeff Mariotte. The best ones are the crossovers that include almost all the main characters from both shows. The best is the Gatekeeper Trilogy (3 books at about 350 pages each), it takes place sometime during Buffy's 3rd season and includes everyone (pre ensouled spike included). There's another great 3 book series called Unseen, it takes place in Buffy's 4th and Angel's 1st (if I remember corectly) season with Buffy finding out about a big problem in LA and both teams end up working together. The other really great book, The Lost Slayer (in 4 very small novels or 1 500+ page volume), is mainly about Buffy but really good. It takes place (mostly) in an alternate universe where Buffy went missing and vampires took over Sunnydale while the scooby's try and form a resistance. I've really liked almost all the Angel books too, the Buffy ones are hit & miss.
Oh! and thanks to there being no WB station here I get Angel on Thursdays. I almost spoiled todays ep earlier from your posts. In the future if you could mark spoiler before you say something about that weeks ep it would be really nice.
Yeah, the whole sister thing sucked and the show wasn't that great from there on out. It got a little better in the last season but no where near the early ones.Quote:

I'm watching Season 2 on DVD and it's awesome. I love the big Hotel and it's definitely a cool Season. I can't believe Angel fired those people, but it's funny to see Wesley and Gunn get so chummy.
If anybody still cares: That new werewolf girl is cool. I wish they wrote in a conscious werewolf state, though. I'd like to see a werewolf be anything but out of control.
Next episode is supposed it very scary, It deals with spike facing the pre-hell stages of his ghostly hood.
Yeah. Only Fred knows his problem.
Hopefully it's a good episode tonight.
(usually is)
Tonight episode is not for kids. It's suppose to show graphic images. I can't wait to see it.
I missed the episode of Angel that was for children. ;) But I get what you mean. Plus it's Halloween soon. People are expecting some sort of costume. I'd like to see the classic pirate and bedsheet ghost.
Wow, that was a cool episode. It was "hell" but it wasn't. It was the guy who fed on souls to keep himself out of hell that was pulling all of the strings on Spike, until Fred helped him.
Spikes cool. I think I like him better than Angel himself.
Spike is the cool character. I really enjoyed the ending where he learned to put is cloths back on kick the "reaper's" ass.
The next episode features Angel getting on with new intern( the new female character) and a Halloween party.
How do you know what's coming up next?
I'm Yami Marik, I use the power of my millennium rod to control the writers of Angel. In controling them, I make them E-mail me the plot of each new episode.
note: I visit the http://tvlisting.zap2it.com website and watch previews on the wb website to see the plot of next episode.
I have seen the entire first season of buffy and 1/2 the second season. Right up to where Angel and Buffy... you know... and he turns back in to Angelus.
Pretty good. Although I still prefer Angels series to Buffys. But they're both entertaining. Xander should make an appearance in Angel. He says funny lines.
I don't really understand why everyone is buying the DVD sets. I mean isn't easier to just tap the shows. I have all episodes of Star Trek Voyager, Beast Wars, Yu-Gi-Oh, Transformes RID, Transformers Armada and Beast Machines all on tap.
What's the difference? I don't want tapes (they detereorate over time) and the sleeves look cool. I'd just rather have the DVDs.
And I don't have a huge DVD collection.
What else is in your DVD collection?
TV Seasons:
Futurama Volume 1
Futurama Volume 2
Angel Season 1
Angel Season 2
The Simpsons Season 1 (hopefully 2 and 3 for Christmas)
Band of Brothers
Movies:
The Sword in the Stone
Dirty Work
That's it. I guess I'm more of a Seasonal Box Set sort of guy.
I really want Buffy Seasons 1 - 7, Deep Space Nine Seasons 1 - 7, Curb Your Enthusiasm 1 - present, King of Queens 1 - present, The Simpsons Season 2 and 3) and Seinfeld.
I also want the movies Finding Nemo, Pirates of the Caribean and The Hulk. But I like Box sets because it's so much entertainment for your buck. I really enjoy Angel and Buffy now.
I also have Forrest Gump and Snatch on VHS... if that counts.
That episode was cool. Lornes sinister sleep was cool. They should have a character like that who can transform, like the Hulk.
The next episode has some WWf stuff. Your DVD collection should have Transformers, like mine does.
WWF?
And I like Transformers but not enough to buy the Season DVDs.
Lets hope it's more Lucha and less wwe. :nod:Quote:

I don't know about this one.
I guess the wrestler is the guy we keep seeing in the background delivering mail with a lucha mask on at the offices. I'm looking forward to this one, good lucha wrestling can kick ass. I just hope they got someone good to do the fight scenes.
Anyone see the 100th episode of Angel this week? Easily the best episode of the year so far. I love the Linsey character, always thinking he's a bad ass and having Angel one up him. I haven't really liked the whole deal with them running WR&H, it's nice to see Angel finaly getting sick of it all and wanting to quit.
Any other thoughts?
Taped the newest episode. Gonna watch it over the weekend. I hope it makes up for the past three lackluster episodes.

Lindsey's a good character, but I really hope they do bring Doyle back in some form. I heard the actor was dead, maybe on these forums. I hope not though... he was cool.
This episode was by far my favorite. The show had humor (Harmony beating up on eve), action (Lindsey Vs Angel) and best of all, Corde comes back and really makes a difference. I was really sad at the end. I should of tape the show.Quote:

Too bad Doyle's actor died... it would've been 10x better to see him back in the lime light. Oh well... these terrible things happen.
I saw the sub episode on Wednesday (I guess it does air on time up here). It was a good episode too.
That sucks, but I hope they go out on a high note... I think one more year would've been a better option though.
Well that blows. Heres to hoping UPN picks it up.
There's a petition started up already, it's at around 5000 sigs so far. I know these are more or less worthless but wtf.
http://www.petitiononline.com/angels6/
I signed it. It won't matter though.
Poor Joss. Every show he had going for him was cancelled just recently (besides Buffy. He literally walked on to the set one year and told them to shut it down).
From www.buffy.nu
Joss Whedon’s Reaction About Angel’s Cancellation...
Quote:
Some of you may have heard the hilarious news. I thought this would be a good time to weigh in. to answer some obvious questions: No, we had no idea this was coming. Yes, we will finish out the season. No, I don’t think the WB is doing the right thing. Yes, I’m grateful they did it early enough for my people to find other jobs.
Yes, my heart is breaking.
When Buffy ended, I was tapped out and ready to send it off. When Firefly got the axe, I went into a state of denial so huge it may very well cause a movie. But Angel... we really were starting to feel like we were on top, hitting our stride -- and then we strode right into the Pit of Snakes ’n’ Lava. I’m so into these characters, these actors, the situations we’re building... you wanna know how I feel? Watch the first act of "The Body."
As far as TV movies or whatever, I’m not thinking that far ahead. I actually hope my actors and writers are all too busy. We always planned this season finale to be a great capper to the season and the show in general. (And a great platform for a new season, of course.) We’ll proceed ahead as planned.
I’ve never made mainstream TV very well. I like surprises, and TV isn’t about surprises, unless the surprise is who gets voted off of something. I’ve been lucky to sneak this strange, strange show over the airwaves for as long as I have. I don’t FEEL lucky, but I understand that I am.
Thanks all for your support, your community, and your perfectly sane devotion. It’s meant a lot. I regret nothing (except the string of grisley murders in the 80’s -- what was THAT all about?) Remember the words of the poet:
"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the road less traveled by and they CANCELLED MY FRIKKIN’ SHOW. I totally shoulda took the road that had all those people on it. Damn."
And the petition is up to 11,000 sigs. not too bad for being up around 2 days.
I wish they'd give it one last season and let them build the show up to run its course.
He should get on the horn right now and start up some deals with other networks.
Or maybe finish the Angel show through DVD releases.
It sucks that WB is following Fox into retardation of cancellations.
Then again, maybe Joss will start a new show. With Spike?
There was talk about a Giles spinoff a while back called Ripper. It was going to air on the BBC over in England and be shown on BBCA here. I'd like to see a show centered around Oz after he left Sunnydale.
I heard that there is an Angel movie being talked about. This movie will supposedly end everything in the Buffy universe once and for all.
Yet at the same time, if they can't get SMG, then they better not even consider it. You can't switch your main character for something like that. It's just not right to us fans.
If she doesn't want to do it, then fine (she should consider it atleast, it is her only successful role) but don't cast someone else.
Scooby Doo was successful.
Ok, well as the main character then.
Does anyone know if using Buffy fansites exist? Or does Fox hunt them down ala Simpsons etc?
Also, how many episodes do the writers of Angel have left this season to write the series to a close?
Most seasons are 22-24, where are they now?
James Marsters came up with a batter way of getting peoples attention and helping to save Angel. Check out the link below
http://www.buffy.nu/article.php3?id_article=3258
I'm going to do some of this. I'll send it to the big wigs at TNT, WB and then one to Joss himself and one to the crew.
New Angel episode was alright. Pretty much solid filler, but it was kinda funny and wierd at the same time.
Angel being a puppet is something I will remember for a while, but the rest of the episode is forgettable.
7/10
I'm sending my postcards out on Monday.
Angel being a puppet was funny as hell. The scene where he fights Spike and then walks ino his office was priceless.
This week's episode was great, its nice to see some more humor this year. "you're a bloody puppet!"
Here's a great site that's organizing the Save Angel Campain. the pic in my sig links to it too.
http://www.savingangel.org
Wow, that site is awesome. I really think they have a great chance at making an impact.
I just hope it's legit and not a scam site.
i'm praying UPN picks it up for 1 or 2 more seasons.
BTW, an update on the Firefly movie is that everybody says that it's been greenlighted. Universal Studios added the movie name Serenity Movie to their website or listing for 2005 - 2006. For those of you who are in the know, Serenity is the name of the crews ship in Firefly.
Yee haw!
I just finished watching the Puppet episode of Angel... fucking amazing. One of the best episodes.
Spoiler alert.
Check out the pic of Fred here if you don't mind being spoiled on next week's (3/3) episode.
She looks badass as this year's big bad, I can't wait to see a diffrent side to Amy Acker as an actress.
I think UPN will renew them for 2 more seasons.
interesting.....Quote:

Looks like they killed of Winifred altogether! Wow this season is awesome. I wish they'd do something with Doyle. Make him come back in demon form and not human form to help the team out again.
Willow didn't show either, and Giles was stubborn.
Compared with teh overwrought melodrama of the last episode this one kicked ass! Illyria looks reminds me more of Kula from KOF. Illyria is such an interesting new character to explore which makes teh impending cancellation even more sad . And bringing back dead characters (Doyle) when the actor who played him is really dead is kinda tastless.
Yeah I don't think Doyle will be back as Glenn Quinn died.
So is Illyria wanting to be a good guy?
