Bethesda Announces Another Pirate RPG...

Bethesda Softworks, best known for their Elderscrolls franchise, has today announced that they will be partnering with Disney Interactive to publish a videogame adaption of this Summer's Pirates of the Caribbean, to coincide with the the movie's launch. The game is planned to be a freedom-driven RPG (much like BethSoft's other RPGs), giving you the ability to shape your character in any fashion you wish, from a merchant to a mercenary, to of course, a pirate, all with their own advantages and consequences. Pirates of the Caribbean is currently in development for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC, with the latter two shipping this June, and the PS2 version at a later date.

speaking of this, what ever happened to sea dogs 2?
edit: over at elder scrolls.com, they have replaced the sea dogs website with a press release of this, so im assuming this is now sea dogs2. not happy about that, yeah, it may still be cool, and get more non-bethesda fans in, but having a liscence inherently limits what has become bethesda's trademark, the overwhelming sense of freedom to do whatever the heck you want.

Don't worry... or do. They're only publishing the game, they're not the ones actually making it. Can't remember the actual developer though.

Not trying taking away from the thread or anything while doing that exact thing, I must say that this image, although the perfect opening for the topic, should be posted in every topic because it's that cool.

Did anyone else pick this game up? I picked it up today and so far it is pretty fun, but the sea battles are a little overwhelming at first.

i got it,and am highly unimpressed, i will put up a review soon. Its not horrible, but all the reviewers that call it "morrowind on the sea" are blowing hot air,there are only a few similarities. I will say that it could get better, this is not a new-player-friendly game, once i get momentum, it could improve. on a related not,it also seemsto have next to nothing to do with the movie, but i could be wrong, given that the movie is not out yet for me to judge.

I'm looking forward to this, but I'm waiting for some more reviews. I don't care about daunting - as long as it's Morrowind sans geeky D&D crap, I'm in.
