Ah, yes, found the thread. Reading through it now. I need one of these yesterday.Quote:

It's sad when I see posts like this:
His lack of English has NOTHING to do with anything, I really don't see how that's a valid point. At least he's putting in effort to bring these wonderful controllers to the rest of the world.Quote:

"Unsuccessful" is a huge understatement. When I asked who was seriously interested in a controller, there were plenty of replies and I was flooded with PMs.
If you guys have any more questions, want pics, etc.. feel free to ask :D
All of this Compass-starting-IIDX stuff made me poke around on the earlier pages of the thread.
I seriously can't believe this thread is over three years old. I can't believe I've been playing these games for three years. And Christ, I can't believe three years have even passed since I got 6th. Never would've guessed we'd even see 8th at home, at that point.
Months ago, I never would have thought it would be possible for me to be playing this series half as much as I used to, but Red is making me reconsider that. It'd be nice to honestly break this skill wall I'm at and continue with the flashing sevens... Maybe that's why I stopped. And for whatever reason, I could never really dive into the anothers. I'll have to see how this goes.
Well, sorry then, I got the wrong impression from reading the thread then. I honestly do not like dealing with people who don't speak English well as it leaves a lot of room for error in business, which is a valid point. Not meaning to denounce his character or product. I just assumed that since it's been posted quite a while and there was no serious talk of people who had controllers (other than you) that things weren't taking off very quickly. If he's got a good product, awesome.Quote:

Yo, kaizoku, any info on that controller in English? I'd love to buy one if the price is right. What do different models feature/how much do they cost?
Yes,maybe you are right. We publish our products in bemanistyle about at April.Because we don't be ready to sell our products to anybody who not Chinese, because there are some unknown questions and risk. But we are very lucky,we can make friends with "kaizoku",he is very honesty and zeal, and give us much help.So we can be ready to sell our products in the World.
We have made the controller in China for two years near upon.In China,we have sold 200 controllers(include ez2dj controller, beatmani IIDX controller,O2JAM controller,DJMAX controller).
So,we have accumulated much experience for making controller,we have own PS and USB IC PCB,we are different with some friends who DIY with KOC PCB.
And,we have a faith, that is that DIY IS DIFFERENT WITH PRODUCTS.
so we hope you can be our firends.Thank you for your words to our products.
PS: sorry for my poor English, that is a truth.
djdao, you RULE. Kaizoku has been instumental in getting this done---
I am going to be one of the US guinea pigs......
By the way, thanks for yours and others Style descriptions/preferences a page ago. I ended up just getting 9th and RED which should hold me over for awhile. I also appreciate your alls patience for such a beatmania newbie who's cutting his teeth on the much-criticized US release. I really am having more fun with the game than any other in recent memory. I've played it almost every night since I got it.Quote:

As for Dao's controller, there really isn't any way I can resist something that pretty, regardless of not really having the money, nor the need for anything so extravagant. Not to mention a skill level still very much in the fetus stages. None of this matters. That PE will be mine.
Riding a bike. Once I hit my wall, taking a month off really helped. You can get into a rut where you make the same mistakes and misreads over and over.
I agree with this. When I play for a few weeks I hit my wall and taking a month or two off and coming back to it always seems to help me out.Quote:

Damn, I just tried playing IIDX Red on an HDTV. I never knew the upscan lag was so bad. Makes the game damn near unplayable. Better go hook up the ol' RGB monitor again.
Got IIDX RED and my silver JP PS2 last night. Played it a little bit. The interface is indeed very stylish (still don't think it beats Wipeout 3's though). It seems like there's so many songs more than BMUS. And I like how most seem to have a four star difficulty or below, since that's currently the level at which I feel challenged while still having fun (most 5s, and definitely 6s and up, make such mincemeat of me that it isn't much fun).
Spent the day today going through all the BMUS songs, trying to better all my scores, then entering them on VJArmy.com which is a game in and of itself. I'm way at the bottom of the rankings for now, but that's okay (as long as I'm not dead last for any song... which, actually, I think I am for several). I love charts, and statistics, and color-codings, and gradual improvement, so this is all right up my alley.
I've decided to definitely buy the DJ Dao controller if, for no other reason, than to force myself to stick with this, and not give up when I start to plateau (it'll be harder to call it quits if I've dropped that kind of money on a peripheral). But, honestly, with so many more styles to collect, and hours of entertainment to be had from each one (I estimate I've spent close to 50 just on BMUS so far), I doubt if this will be an issue anytime soon. The current plan is to limit myself to opening no more than one new style per month. May was BMUS. June belongs to RED.
VJ Army is wonderful. So is this:Quote:

If you have ANY way of running homebrew software on your PS2 (if you know anyone with a modded PS2, and you own a memory card, you do have a way), or you have a dexdrive-ish thing, Memorymani will take the PS2 save games and upload all of your scores to VJ Army automatically. This thing was awesome when I was borrowing Nomi's PS2, but I still have to show her how to use it... That said, I don't think it supports BMUS or IIDX Red yet. And if what I heard about BMUS not saving EX Scores is true, it won't ever be supported.
Ideally, two things will happen in the future.
1. Something like MemoryMani will be ported to the PS2 and upload scores right from the system, and
2. If/When VJ Army goes down, Remy releases it for other people to host it on their own.
Given that there's already a PS2 program that downloads RED Rival data right from VJ Army, I think that both of these are kinda possible.

This just in: the BM US controller buttons > the japanese IId buttons
That was in awhile ago.
Yes, I will indeed make use of this. Funny, this is the first I've heard of it with all the IIDX threads I've read in the last month or so. For now though, it is of course useless to me, as you realized, since the only two installments I own are the only two it's incompatible with.Quote:

So, a company called mymybox is also working on an arcade replica IIDX controller. They were at E3. Anyone try 'em out? I like the mirror finish (although it will likely require constant polishing after use to remove finger prints).

I'm torn now between this one or DJ Dao's. I'm leaning towards DJ Dao's because it seems they will be available a little sooner, and there's already a lot of positive buzz (whereas I can't find any impressions of mymybox's controller, perhaps because they're not completely finished with it?).
Bad experiences with MyMyBox imitation RedOctane Ignition pads. The sensors blew out really easily on both of the ones I had, so I'd be inclined to never buy from them again.
That sucks because DJ Dao is taking *forever* to get things up and running.
I'm still playing IIDX all the time. I bounce back and forth between RED and BMUS, and have as much fun now as I did months ago. Still have yet to get a AAA, though! And my only Perfect Clears are on the easiest 5-key songs on BMUS.
Compass, I've been playing for almost three years and I still haven't gotten a AAA. I don't like playing on random, I don't play a song twice in a row, and I don't play regularly enough. I am fine with the fact that I never will get a (non BMUS) AAA.
it took me a pretty long time to get my first AAA, it was about 7 months into the game, and even then it was on 5.1.1 hyper. Keep on practicing, and it'll come.
And now you have 75! How long between your first AAA and your 75th?
And thanks, Nomi. I'm not into playing songs twice in a row either, unless it's one I really don't like (in which case I'm not concerned with wearing it out). I'm not sweating the high scores too much at this point. It's more important to me to just be able to clear certain songs, like lower world, which I love so much, but have to play on Beginner in order for it to sound remotely decent.
I just play, I honestly gave up caring about clearing 7*s or any of that crap a long time ago. If I get an A, cool. AA? Awesome, I wasn't trying. I play on Light-7 half of the time now and don't do a ton of upper level 7* stuff (hyper, whatever. I'm used to the old system). I don't even know if I've even tried any anothers. Just play and have fun, I guess. Haven't been bothered to care about VJarmy and all that in so long since I'd be passed up by any competition within a month of them trying. I can only get rivals that are new kids to the game, haha.
You guys need to get into Guitar Hero more.
My first AAA!
(let's ignore what song it was)
jam jam reggae
But you knew that already.
Oh, and I finally beat V and Love is Dreaminess on Light 7. Only four more stand in my way on BMUS. But three of those are doozies (Colors, Nemesis, Summer Vacation). It'll be some time before they're in my sights. The other one is Voltage, and it will fall within the week. This, I swear.
I love VJ Army. I don't use it for the competition. I know I'll never be able to compete with people who've been playing the game for years, and/or are just naturally adept at rhythm games (which I most certainly am not). I just love seeing a big grid of boxes slowly change colors as I improve, and the little numbers appear in the status graphic.

See, where you and I differ is that I'd post a pic of the list with said AAA in it.
