Oh, I hate being sick, lost my voice for several days and felt like absolute crap. Couldn't sleep from coughing so much and I missed two morning classes and I'm so overwhelmed just trying to catch up from it now. It was nice to actually play a real game for once, though, IIDX doesn't really count.
And yeah, I forgot about 9th. It's like the quiet stepchild style to me, I just... don't remember that it exists. Completely unmemorable songlist to me, I can't explain it at all. Maybe I'll pop that in since you won't buy 8th or 10th.
Heh. Hey, I'm actually looking into it on ebay. I probably will buy another style soon mostly due to your prodding. And I feel the same way about 9th so far, though I've played it the least so I could still fall in love. Only a few songs stand out for me, like Star Field (maybe a revival, I don't know) and that EeL song or however you spell his name (Orange Lounge guy).
And yeah, you reminded me of the bad parts of being sick. I forgot about those...

Holy crap, I just dominated in RED. I'm only behind you by 1184 points now. And right before quitting, I *almost* didn't bother, then said, yes, I'll play Gambol one more time and try to get that AAA...
And I got it! My 3rd one ever. Unlocked a new image at the same time, too. I'm so happy right now. :)

Maybe I should start a new thread in the Score Attack forum, so we don't annoy people by continually bumping this thread with no new real IIDX discussion? There's some older ones for specific styles but they're all locked now. Maybe I'll start a new one for all styles...
I hate score attack, though, since I talk more about the game than actual scores and VJarmy does all our scorekeeping for us in a much better manner. If the mods think we should just keep it to PM or whatever they can, but a few other people occasionally post in here too ;_;

I know I can pass more crap than you and that will probably hold out for a while, but honest to God, I warned you that I can't play for score. I am one of those people that has zero sense of rhythm and I just can't get higher EX scores. Hence 2+ years of play and not one AAA yet.
Bah, I'll probably play some more once I finish Okami. To play 8th I have to actually pull down my JPS2 and set it up and you have nooooo idea how lazy I've been lately.
I seriously doubt you are really that much worse than me when it comes to rhythm. The only reason I have the three AAAs I do is because I played those songs several times in the same session - which you refuse to do. Really focusing on when the *game* wants you to hit the keys, as opposed to when it feels right *to me* rhythm-wise, helped me considerably.
Also, I've been pretty much playing every night for the past few weeks. I've noticed my skills improve considerably from this kind of consistent training. If I was just popping it in once or twice a month, I reckon I wouldn't be seeing much if any improvement.
Anyway, don't want to force ya. But it was fun to have a goal of trying to beat you. That other guy a couple pages back (DJ XENY I think) who was real close to me never entered any more scores, so he's no threat at the moment. That leaves... SoldatoJ who is probably like a year ahead of me in terms of skills (aka too far ahead to be much fun).
Seesh. Even after practicing a song multiple times, the highest I've ever scored was an A. And I've only done it twice!

Nope, I only have RED, and I've only owned it and a PS2 since July.
When I play now, I continue to improve but at a very slow rate compared to when I first started. I especially have trouble scratching at the right time when there is a string of keyboard notes simultaneously. I'll post some scores when I get the chance, but keep in my the bulk of my playtime is Light7. 7 Key is interesting too, but the level 6 songs are too large of a jump in difficulty for me to play.
Okay, I think I was thinking of DJ XENY. That's cool. Go at your own pace. Just have fun!

Yes! The rivalry is back! I might not be playing much the next couple weeks (working like 12 hour days), but after that, it's on.
Works fine by me since it's midterm week and I don't need more incentive to not be studying. I only popped in 8th to make sure my JPS2 survived another transport and update neglected scores on it.
In 2 weeks I'll be out of exam-exam-assignment-exam schedule and will crack down on RED again.
Ok, sweet. I got a DJ Dao Platinum Edition coming in the mail soon, too. No more KOC for me. Could be the edge I need...

The switches in my KASC are wearing down. Two of them feel soft... I might just be paranoid, but it's only $22 shipped to get 11 new switches ($20 minimum order) so I might buy a set and replace all of them. It is a first-line KASC, though, so it has a few miles on it. Had at least two owners before me.
Still plays absolutely fine and doesn't have any effect on my scores, it just doesn't feel as crisp as it did a year ago. $22 is a lot cheaper than $300 or whatever for the dao's, too.
I know, that doubles deck is insanity. But if I were actually rich enough for that, I'd probably also be rich enough to just buy an arcade machine.
And yeah, $22 for all new switches sounds like a sweet deal to me if it will indeed return all keys to their super-crispness glory of yesteryear. How hard is it to change them, though? Let me know how it goes.

Oh yeah, about this: Soldering is one of those things that seems scary if you've never done it, but it's actually ridiculously easy. I'm totally girlish in that I'm just not handy at all, but even I had no problem whatsoever soldering a resistor into my computer monitor after buying a $3 "learn to solder!" kit on ebay, and practicing for like half an hour (which probably wasn't even necessary).Quote:

Get some 8th scores up this week. Once I'm back at school (Tuesday) I'm totally going to focus on it against whatever ones you're beating me on (probably all of them). And seriously Compass, less Light7 and more 7key. I hate those pussy <4* songs.
There's something to be said about playing easy songs, even once your skill level far surpasses that level.
It allows you to focus on improving your timing without having to worry about hand positioning or dexterity or other crap. If you can not AAA 3s or 4s, you will have no chance at scoring well on the hard songs. Even at that point, the difference in accuracy is what seperates top players from not-so-top players (granted you still need to be able to execute at that level, but if you can't get 99%+ on 3s and 4s you have no shot at being a top player, period.)
Playing the harder songs is more fun, though. :V
We both know you have an edge on me on 7key songs, so, yes, I will indeed try to focus on those to once and for all *erase* that edge. Heh. But the plan is to first just get scores in for every song in both Light7 and 7key. I guarantee this is going to set me way back at least at first, since you've actually entered recent 8th Style scores. I think I noticed that you're pretty good at scales. Songs like Presto 7key make me look like I've never touched a IIDX controller in my life.Quote:

Huh ... I signed up for VJ Army and it's a wonder how the IIDX community could put up with such a cumbersome system. I guess it is detailed but man... for the time it takes me to enter in my scores for songs, I could play a song instead.
Also, another thing that keeps me from trying it out is that IIDX's lack of detailed score records forces you to only enter score entries that you just, at that moment, earned. I thought they would only take scores, but they ask you to have all the info of Greats, Goods, Poors, etc. That means I pretty much have to replay everything to get it entered into VJArmy. That's just too much.
They don't take money scores because money scores are worthless. It's possible for one player to have a better money score and lower EX than another.
And RED is one of the CS IIDXs that do keep detailed records. Hold down Select for a minute while on the song list. 8th - 10th are the ones that are problems. You don't have to replay anything from RED.
