French Scum

There are some French who have defaced a British graveyard in France.

The British who are buried in this graveyard are British who died defending France. The articles dont make it clear which war, but probably World War I and World War II, both wars in which France needed British help to simply survive.

Im not saying that the majority of French will like this, in fact, I bet that they will find it repugnant. And indeed it is. But still the fact that there is trash in France who will stoop to such a low makes my stomach turn.

The intention of the thread was to try to tell people an obvious bit of news that they may have not seen (it happened on the 26th, didnt read about it today apparently), news that shows the type of crazy shit some people are doing, and in France. I dont know what the fuck would incite someone to deface a fucking graveyard full of people who died 50 or 80 years ago to protect their own freedom, but it seems to be pretty heavy there and its disgusting.

Okay, I'm sorry, if your goal was to provide an isolated public service statement about some horrible incident that occured in some European country and did not intend to pass judgment on an entire culture of people with which I'd venture you have no first-hand experience, then excuse my comments.

To make an observation, I think it's fair to say that the French find this sort of thing much more acceptable, culturally, than the Americans. It's far more prevalent over there than it is here, and incidents like this don't evoke the same sort of response, on average, there, as they do here. I don't have any hard facts on this, so my views may just be corrupted because of the way the American media presents things, but disregarding that, this sort of action seems to be oddly acceptable and disconcertingly common over there.

The difference between 1% of Americans accepting this sort of thing and 5% of the French accepting this sort of thing (to make a gross generalization) is still significant, even though this action would not be representative of a majority of either country's people.

The more mainstream opposition there is to an isseu the bolder the hardliners will get.
In France and indeed most of the world save for the US and Israel the vast majority of people are against this war so incidents like this are more likely to happen becouse an idiotic minority feels bold enough to go too far.
Example, in the beginning of the Vietnam war no one wouldve been thinking of spitting on returning troops as opposition grew in the mainstream tough those more radical felt secure enough to do so.
Simple psychology really.
For you to attribute this sort of behaviour to the french exclusively while history is rife with examples of exactly the same sort of things happening everywhere in the world however is indeed a rascist and xenophobic thing.
