Over this past weekend the LPGA had a big tournament and a French woman won. Seemed like everyone was really happy to see her win. With all the "French sux" mentality lately I thought that was cool beans.

Calling the French Revolution a huge cock-up is about the depth of my francophobia - the picture in my sig implies nothing more than us telling the EU to fuck off because it couldn't keep us from liberating Iraq. I'm not worrying about growing anti-semitism in France because I hate France - I'm worrying about it because it's worrisome.
France is weirdly lacking in the sort of neocon-right Blair-left that provides a counterpoint to fundamentalists and Marxists (if I'm wrong in that analysis, please correct me.) The country is unbalanced, politically, which makes it susceptible to extremists flying many flags - the fact that the left is so afraid of the racist/anti-semite descriptor makes it easier for those sorts of elements to sneak up on them (the "what, we're never racist!" element).
