I know it was dead when they caught it, I wasn't saying that they killed it on purpose. It got caught in their nets. I was just thinking how cool it would be if, somehow, it was still alive when they hauled it aboard.Quote:

Cephalopods (even very small ones) are one of the most difficult sea creatures to keep alive in captivity (due to how little we know about them).
And yeah, I've read about how difficult it to keep a Cephalopod in captivity...besides, they only tend to have a lifespan of just a few years, anyway.
Thats one big ass squid...
This makes me feel like playing EVO: Search for Eden...
Nemo: But how many of those extinct species suck?

speaking of rare bizarre deep sea life, has anyone seen that crazy video of the guy that found that huge oarfish dying in that little rocky cove? I saw it on some "amazing animal videos" once and have been looking for it online but can't seem to find it. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
Update to the story with a bit more additional info:

That chart really helps, now when someone comes to me and goes, "So how big was that Colossal Squid?" I can reply with, "Oh about 2 and a half London buses."
