Tales of Symphonia

My frothing anticipation increases!

It looks like Kohsuke Fujishima is back! (Fujishima did the characters for Tales of Phantasia, and the NArikiri games, as well as Sakura Taisen and authored the ever popular Ah! My Goddess!) I've always like his work alot more than Mutsumi Inomata's.

New characters look to be named Lloyd Arving, Collette Brunel, Dunias Seid. Loyd looks like a super deformed Ogami Ichiro to me. I've already heard that Sakuraba is back on board to compose (no surprise, he's done every Tales release so far). The battle system appears to be taken into 3D, Star Ocean style. I have no idea how this will play out, but I'm eager to find out. Looks like the audience they're shooting for is younger than normal, evidenced not only by the character designs, but lack of any difficult kanji in the game (and, I suppose, the platform as well). But regardless, it's an entirely new chapter in the Tales series, so I'm happy. I'd say chances of a US release are slime to nil since we didn't even get ToD2, but I'll import anyway.

I don't know whether I should be really happy :D or really sad :(... well I guess that's up to Namco of America...

I hope we get a US release, but I'm not waiting up. I'll import it, and if 3 years from now (as is their pattern) they decide to grace us with a domestic release, I'll get that too.

It looks good. I still need to buy the Playstation Tales games.

Hmm.. Interesting. Looks to be cell shaded as well. I hope the battle system will still be fun. I love the 2D fighting. :D

Looks to be 3D this time, judging by the fact that they're calling the battle system the "LMB 3D".

The only way this is coming out in the US is if someone else picks it up. I dunno who would be a taker though.

But the Tales series has always had more in the gameplay department than the story department. Great dungeon designs, great battle system. There's enough there to merit playing in japanese.

Aside from Xenosaga, Namco USA is ignoring many spectacular RPGs its Japanese counterpart is producing: Venus&Braves, ToD2, and now Tales of Symphonia. :confused: I'd rather play in English any of those 3 more than SC2.

That's some damned impressive cel-shading. It looks almost like...illustration-shading or something. I'd really like to see it in motion. ToD2 (the real one) didn't interest me much, but this might just catch my attention. And yeah, I thought the same thing when I saw that one guy...he looks like some kind of chibi-Oogami clone.

Ain't that the truth. I think Namco leaves more games in japane than it brings to the US.

How about we start a company called "Nam-Co" or something, devoted to localizing the stuff they refuse to. Lord knows there's a wealth there.
