David Bloom

NBC's "Weekend Today" co-anchor died over the weekend from a pulmonary embolism, which one could guess was the result of living in cramped quarters on that tank for a couple weeks. (A blood clot could have developed in his legs, and then it might have travelled to his lungs after getting dislodged.) He was fairly unpopular with videogamers during his reporting last Oct on the Washington DC sniper shootings for his wild speculation of a link to our hobby. What do you all think of him?

I thought he was excellent, whenever I actually saw him. He was a professional reporter and obviously loved his job.

As for videogames/violence. More often than not, these assignments are handed out by the actual corp. I won't hold that against him.

I was surprised to hear the news.

He was well respected among his peers and I for one, thought he was great at what he did.

Sad to hear him pass away.

I really appreciated his reporting and personality. He was one of the main reasons I watched NBC stations, and it's a real shame to see him go.

Unbelievable, dying that way in the midst of all that was going on.

I thought he was really good, and I had a feeling that he would only be climbing higher and higher on the NBC ladder, its really too bad. And he was a fellow Minnesotan as well. Those pulmonary embolism's are bad news, make sure if your going to be sitting for a really long time make sure to stand up and straighten out your legs, as long sustained sitting is the main cause for them. And when it hits you thats it, you just collapse dead, and thats what happand to David. Its really too bad, he was good stuff.

Heheh, I'm kind of disappointed we haven't seen any "Videogames have nothing to do with violence! Fuck that guy, good riddance," posts...would've expected someone to make one.

Yeah, it was response to a comment you made about me being under 21 and unable to give to charities. If I'm under 21 now, how did I vote in 1998 when I would have been 16?
