East Coast Championship 8

For you East coast peeps I know you have to check this out. Dunellen, New Jersey is known for being the home of the break to Street Fighter players on the east coast, why is this? Well for the past 8 years the Break has been bringing us East Coast Championships, this is where all the smack talk from all over the east coast(and even other parts of the country!) is settled in a tournament where the best will only survive.

I along with other Connecticut players will be travelling Memorial Day weekend to see if we can measure up to top player all across the U.S. Confirmed events at ECC are currently Marvel Vs Capcom 2(team tourney and singles tourney), Capcom vs Snk2, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo and Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike. I'm all about this. Last year, team Granite Run (that's me and a few friends) didn't do so bad. We're all saddeling up to come on out this year too. We've been going since ECC6. See you there. :D

Because, compared to everyone else in team Granite Run, I'm not too good. I have teh skillz, but they can all kick my lilly white ass. As a result, I tend to keep a low, low profile, where ever we go.

I used to play at the Break all the time back in the SF Vs. X-Men (as Mags/Cyclops)/SF Vs. Marvel(as Bison/Cyclops) days. The best I ever placed in a tourney was second though :/

Anyhoo, I encourage everyone to come to Ecc8.. I, Nibor, am helping to run Alpha 3 and the trailer was made by Light Circle Productions (consisting of me and my friend SSP). ECC8 is going to be ridiculously good and very competitive so if you think you're good (or even if you don't heh) come to test your skills.

Any feedback on the trailer is appreciated.

Also if you ask for the mini furby 90 out of 100 people will say "WHO THE FUCK IS THAT?!" but if you happen to ask anyone from New England they will point you torwards me :).

Yo sup Nibor, I hope we have some good matches at ECC. You gotta show me where all the get togethers are at night time, I gotta be on the dvd at one point :).

Mostly Adobe Premier but also Virtual Dub for some minor things. Photoshop too from the lettering etc.

I would consider this if I had a car, even though I don't have any excellent competition around here (hence my skills are enough to beat anyone locally but I would get massively pwned at a competition like this). Damn funds.

I'd encourage anybody who lives remotely near the area to try and find a way to go. Half of the fun of going to a tournament is just meeting people. Plus there are tons of opportunities to see high level play of those games we all really enjoy.

Of course for some games, it could make you a little sour :) (see also, CVS2)

Cleveland, Ohio. Random guess is probably about 10 hours driving time to Jersey.

There's a chance I could convince a roomie to drive me, but that's probably a horrible time frame for him. Bah to non-existant teleportation devices, they would make things so much easier (the kind that don't destroy your body).

Then get back on Cvs2 Live, fool! You've got a friend request. Some of the top ranked players on there are parry-god-super-cancel-juggling-corner-trap-of-deathing scary. Sirlin and CaliPower both dusted me something fierce. I haven't even played Bahn or FighterX yet...

I'll get on... what say tomorrow? Not a real big fan of turtle-heaven and I play much worse at that then I do at something like GGXX (which is actually getting playtime that doubles as making an arcade stick second nature, still far from that goal), but it'll do, I suppose. This way you'll have someone to beat on.

Haha...don't bet on it. I'm still a total whipping boy at that game. I suddenly realized that except for occasional SF3 arcade matches and a few months at 1 player MotW last year, I'm at least 2 years removed from any serious playing, and that was at KoF. So I still play KoF style - constant dashing, (except when 88 plows me into a corner) although I'm discovering that style has definite drawbacks in this game...

I can hold my own in Alpha 3... best fighting game to date IMO (the Alpha series, I mean).

Too bad I live in fucking Miami... I mean, usually it's good and fun, except when something happens elsewhere in the country, since I live in the U.S.'s wang so everywhere is kinda far from here. I have a new car, so I can make the drive, but there's no way in hell I'm doing it on my own, and I don't think there's too many of us round here that I could take to make the trip worth it.

Bring some tourneys down here, to Flippers or something. Shit.

"holding my own..." pretty confident vibe. Heh, anyhow - sitting around waiting for tourneys to fall in your lap won't get results. get out there, be assertive, coordinate one and announce them at SRK. like the rest of the SF players throughout the country.

There WAS a tournament at Flippers a few years back, but I fell out of the scene when they got rid of their SF3 machines and bought like 5 Capcom vs. SNK 2 machines. Not that CvS2 is a bad game, but it's no SF3. I just got bored.

And they have one lonely SFA3 cabinet off in the corner, which sees random action here and there, and which my Zangief dominates. As soon as I see someone plop in a quarter I stop what I'm playing and rush over to it. Usually, they suck, so it's not worth it.

I've never played a well-known player, unfortunately, but I judge my skill through my childhood friend John, who has always been better at me in fighting games. Except A3, where we're basically on par with each other. Used to be other arcades that were good down here, but now we're left only with Flippers.

*sigh* I wish I had some competition...

What's also funny is that the Georgia Tech Student Center now has a great arcade, yet while I attended it was TOTAL ASS. All they had was a few gun games, including Carn-evil. Why does God hate me so?

Hmm.. I live quite close to The Break and although I won't be entering the ECC myabe I'll see some of you there. I ussually go one night of the tourny to see the maddness and visit (I'm friends with Phi, the kid who runs the majority of the tournameny).

Aside from a few people. Mainly everyone in the SF community and even among the team have been used to be calling me Bahn. It's actually my nickname not just a "screen name"

Truthfully I prefer it. Though with everyone else, I acknowledge them by their actual birth names.

I was just checking the Break's website. It's a mere 39-40 minutes from me (I live up in Boonton). I think I'll probably make it down. Not sure if I'll register or not, but it'd be cool to just chill with some fellow TNLers and hang and enjoy ourselves. :)

I can hold my own with the best players at FnG, but I'm in no way insane. ;) Just because I beat you guys doesn't mean I can do it to everyone else.

I regged for ECC8, breaking my personal ... thing about never entering a tournament. I wouldn't say I'm good enough, and I wouldn't be satisfied with my performance guarenteed.

But I might surprise myself. My Colossus can tear people apart if they're not prepared for it.

Should be interesting. I'll be there whatever days MvsC2 is being played.

Anyone know what the difference between the MvsC2 team tourney, and the MvsC2 normal tourney is? Just curious.

Well, ECC8 was quite an enjoyable experience. Didn't see nearly as many ppl as I expected were going to show up. Aside from ShinJohnpv and Soundwave (both who are very down to earth and cool - thanks for getting those batteries for me John!), I didn't run into anyone else from here. Disappointed I am.

Anyways, here's an unofficial volume 2 (since the true volume 2 from me will be due very shortly in direct relation to E3)
