Yeah, and add to that the fact that penetration of stand alone dvd players continues to saturate the market making the ability of a game machine to play one pretty much negated. By the next generation that's only going to become more true. "PS3 plays dvds too? Great, I'll add that to my growing stack of dvd players. Yay." I guess for kids with their consoles in their rooms and no dvd player, it's alright. But evenso, you can buy a dvd player for cheap these days and they're only getting cheaper.Quote:

I think that the GCN's being able to play only games is a bonus because it proves to me that the last true videogame company still making consumer hardware couldn't give a rat's ass about anything that ain't games. It means alot to me since I too am only in it for the games.

But yeah, Sony and Microsoft have this big dream of making their consoles all-in-one set top boxes. I still just want to play games on the thing. I think the next distinction between Sony/Microsoft and Nintendo is going to be downloadable games. I don't see Nintendo jumping on that in the next generation, and more power to 'em; I don't want to have to do it. But maybe I'm wrong? Should Nintendo be thinking in that direction?
