Forget Digital Angel; I'm talking about something way worse. OK DJ, let's play "Somebody's Watching Me" by Rockwell.
Tribune Media Sevices' civil liberties expert Robyn Blumner has written an article regarding RFID (Radio Frequency ID) tags. They are confetti-size - small enough to embed in clothing (Spywear anyone?) or a pop can. Each tag basically contains its own unique ID number.
Marketers could spy on you with it as far as how you wear a certain article of clothing or use other merchandise.
In theory, the RFID tags (aka e-tags) could be put in cash, stamps, or letters. Not good. One supplier of the tags is Alien Technology.
Burglars could theoretically canvass alleys with RFID receivers to detect expensive electronic items via the RFID chips on the discarded packaging material.
