Four Legs Good, Two Legs Bad

Animal Farm by George Orwell. Just bought it on Saturday over at Barnes & Noble. A nice hardcover copy, as well.

I'd seen the cartoon of this story quite a few times before (Mr. Jones was awesome looking) but never read the book, so I decided to buy it. A very good purchase, to say the least. A very good analogy of communism and how it comes to power. Playing on ideas and the minds of the people.

The rise of Napoleon's regime, so to speak, was interesting. I like how Orwell gives the pigs their scheming personalities. How they hide information from the rest of the animals and keep the educational materials to themselves.

Grand book. Anyone else give it a whirl?

I read it back in like seventh grade for social studies. I like it then, but i'm sure I didn't understand what was going on. If I find it, I'll be sure to give it another whirl over the summer.

The TV version has Patrick Stewart in it.

I read the book in 8th grade, pretty nice, and I loved just how it represented the Communist revolution in russia. Overall it was a decent book, but not really my kind, so I didn't enjoy it too much.

Damn Commies.

Hm, sounds like good commie-hating material. Maybe I'll pick it up, tho that would be a rare thing for me to do.

I don't even know Orwell, truth be told; I just ran into a tidbit of his "Pacifism is objectively pro-Fascist" logic, which elegantly expressed the perception I was getting from a segment of the anti-war protesters.

One of my favorate Orwell books. The TNT movie was great right up til they screwed with the ending. I fucking hate it when Movie makers sugar coat endings to make them more "upbeat" and "happy," that's bullshit.
