Heh.
Go find the Raiden Project for the PSone. It is a damn good conversion, & Raiden 2 is one of my favorite old school shmups. There are a lot of current shmups that don't sport the ammount of detail found in Raiden 2. Easily worth whatever you pay for it.

The arcade version pisses me off. Convoluted tap tap systems... And the DC one has like... an entire extra game in there and a billion extras.Quote:

Wow... I'd say I have a good amount of games o look for now, thanks! I'll probably go after the Dreamcast games first as DC is my favorite console and it's gonna be hard to find DC games soon. I'll make sure to keep an eye out for all of them though.
Anyway, any general tips for shooters? I'm getting my ass handed to me by Ikaruga's second level boss... :(
Totally varies from game to game. The only general tip is: Practice practice practice.Quote:

That's just asking for a ripping on these boards...Quote:
Also, stay away from the Gigawing games. They are both average at best. Gigawing 2 is VERY PRETTY, but VERY SHALLOW. I bought it for $19.99 the day it came out and I still wasn't too impressed with it.

I disagree. Difficulty aside, it's one of the best games to reward you for score play, and to help you understand its own depth. I think it's a great place to start for anyone with a genuine intrest in the genre.Quote:

Exactly. Mars Matrix has the incredibly cool feature of allowing you to use your earned points to unlock "strategy" for the successive stages -- you actually get to watch the "CPU" blaze through the level, revealing all sorts of techinques that you may never have considered. The downside: if you're a bit light on skill, watching some of those great runs can actually be a bit depressing.
