okay i went to buy a new car on saturday and heard back from the dealership today. apparently there is a Visa card with my name attached to it with a $5500 balance on it. a card which i never had. how the hell do i get a free credit report online without signing up for 30 day trial memberships or hidden fees?
The best thing that I have found is get a credit report from www.equifax.com. It's not free, it cost 9 bucks, but there's no membership or hidden stuff that can bite you in the ass later.
I feel for you, the same thing happened to me when I tried to get a car loan a couple of months ago, my MOM'S sears card was on my credit report.
yeah thats what i just found out. my mom put me on one of her cards as a shared account and now its showing up on my credit. but shes even got the receipts and there isnt a $5500 balance on that card. we got shit to figure out.
another little note, dont check your credit report often.. Because it lowers your credit rating, if you look at it to often..
what?! why does looking at it lower your rating? WTF? so you get penalized for making yourself financially aware of your own situation? Fuck that!

Really? Maybe I should start checking my credit report often, since I currently have no credit and can't do a damn thing. If I at least had some bad credit I could work with that.Quote:

from what i understand say if you check it 5 times in a year. well that means one bank checks it 5 times or 5 banks once or whatever. so when you go for a loan and the bank you go to see's that the credit has been checked that many times without a loan being given its seen as a bad mark. they don't care if you're checking or applying for a loan it's looked at the same regardess. weird....
