What games do you collect?

I work with a guy, I think collecting games is getting in the way of his life. The guy has a disgusting large colelction of games for all platforms. 1000s, litterally. ALl of his dresser drawers are emptied out and filled with games, DVD racks upon DVD racks filled. Truely sick.

The worst part is that he doens't play nearly half of what he buys. He works 2 full time jobs to pay for everything, mooches off of his girlfriend and lives with her paying no rent, all of the money towards games. And recently, I actually looked at a pile of stuff he was picking up. Things such as Barbie for NES and SNES Porky Pig games were scattered through out. He just buys anything that he doesn't have.

As for me, I'll get all the obscure stuff, be it games or systems. I'm not too terribly biased, but I do need to expand into RPG-dom. Speaking of obscure, I'll get PCBs that never made it stateside or those I enjoyed backin the day.

Lots of shooters! Actually, I have way, way too many of them now and I really need to stop buying them, sit down, and try to clear some.

At one point I was also trying to collect Mega Man games, but that idea kind of wore off, since I already had all the good ones and the newer ones weren't so good.

I like playing RPGs, but I absolutely do not "collect" them. I don't think I've ever played an RPG more than once, so as soon as I finish them they get sold before they clog up my shelf.

I try to have a respectable library for every system I own. If there was one genre I focused on more than others, its probably shooters. a mediocre shooter is still a fun game.
