Indeed. If Captain Vegetable was a bishop, this forum would be his diocese.
But he'd let the lay people have both bread and wine at communion, and probably a lot of meat.
Amen
this is for veggie, but i wanted to jump in on that one too, there is no absolute simple answer, but here are a few things i have gleaned.Quote:

But surely, if someone is brought up to believe in, say, bhudda, it surely isn't his fault that he doesn't know christ. Isn't it unfair to reject this person from heaven? Why would god be so mean to people who are just ill informed?
A. god is just, remember what i had said about sin requiring a guilty mind? well this is one of those cases, if you live in an area where it is impossible to recieve the word of christ, then i doubt that you will be heald responsable. it would be probably a "limbo" situation like i described, where you ar being held by a unknown entity, but you woudl be recieving the benefits of heaven. The poep recently(obout a few years ago or so, ) made the commnet that there are those who lived resolutely in a godley way but were not christians, and he speculate that they too were likely saved. just remember my mantra, GOD IS JUST, that works both ways, he wont get you for something you were innocent of, but he also knows you motivations for action(so no cheesy excuses)
WRONG!!! The only people in the Bible to be baptised before Christ's coming were the followers of John the Baptist. In addition to this, he would have baptised many people of all different ages.Quote:

Remember, it isn't our disbelief in Christ that we're damned to Hell for, rather it's our original sin in Adam.Quote:

Is it unfair? Well, that depends on your definition. I don't think it's unfair, as they are still responcible for their sins in Adam. Jesus is the only atonement for that. Jesus is quite often refered to as the "Second Adam," because He was given the same set of circumstances Adam was, but he obeyed the law, rather than disobeying it. If you exist in Adam (spiritually), you are committed to sin, and if you are committed to sin, you'll be damned to Hell. If you exist in Christ Jesus (spiritually), your sin is attoned for, as He sacrificed His law abiding life that you might live through Him.
Jesus was not just a man, however, as He was fully man, but also fully God. If He were not God, then He wouldn't be eternal. If He were not eternal, then neither would His death and resurection be eternal. If His death and resurection were not eternal, then we're all in big trouble, Christian and non-Christian alike.
Would He be so mean to people who are simply ill informed? This I cannot answer. They are not being damned for their misinformation, though. Their damnation...your damnation...my damnation was chosen by us in Adam. For that we are all damned. What I can tell you is that God is merciful, as well as just, and I can also tell you that mercy covers a multitude of sins. The fact remains that no one can get to the Father except through Jesus, but I'm not asserting anything beyond that. God is the judge of peoples souls, not me. I'll not be held responcible for the damnation of others by telling them they're going to Hell, as I don't rightly know.
Religon is silly.
And foolish. Or rather, the message in the Bible is foolish.Quote:

The first time I was gonna go to college I was going to go with a major in theology and a minor in psychology.
Would like to go back one of these days I think.
A major in theology?! That's a bit suprising. Care to explain?
And in keeping with the topic, when, if ever, were you baptised?
I'm not a religous person.Quote:

I was never baptised.
But I find spirituality, religon, worship, and all its history and such really fascinating.
I've always been into understanding how people work (hence the psych minor), and coming to terms to what they worship goes along way to determining how a person interacts with the world around them.
There is more to it, but that's about it in a nutshell. :D
Cool.
