What are your favourite cute/cartoon-ish shooters? Some of mine are the Fantasy Zone series, Coryoon, Air Zonk, Kyuiin, Cloud Master and the Parodius series.
I really would like to see Nintendo make one with their characters.

How is Twinkle Star Sprites? That's a Neo game, right?
Gunbird, Parodius, Fantasy Zone,Star Parodier, Games Paradise, Cotton, Magical Chase.
Magical Chase
Parodius'
Kyuin
Cotton 2
I want Tengoku: The Game Paradise on Saturn. It's one of the next purchases.
Twinkle Star Sprites also came out on Saturn and Dreamcast. It's kind of a puzzle/shooter. I never got into it but I hear it's better multiplayer.
I forgot about Star Parodier. That game kicks ass.
Game Tengoku 2 isn't bad. I haven't played the first one.
The first one's suppose to blow 2 out of the water.:)

Don't spend much more than $40, although the DC port is your best bet. It really isn't worth much unless you have someone to play the game with.
I haven't played too many others besides Cotton, which is really fabulous.
What have we here?
Seriously, I know plenty of you guys have this game... Get on that thread ASAP.
I need a Parodius game of some sort. Sexy, maybe.
The first one is better.
Click I know, but I haven't played this for score in quite a while. I prolly won't in the near future with the arrival of DDP-doj and XII stag in the next 2 weeks.
Same here. I won't be able to go near it for months with my current full plate.Quote:

But there are at least half a dozen members here that must own the game otherwise. Give it a twirl!
Deluxe would be a nice start. It contains the original and ultimate parodius. I think it might be a bit rare though.Quote:

The Game Paradise and Harmful Park (make sure you set the game to normal for some reason defalt is easy) are top banana. Sexy Parodius realised my dream of shooting a racoon in the knackers.
I have to get hold of HP and Kyuiin....:(
Jikkyo Oshaberi Parodius is my current favorite. It's the most entertaining Parodius game I've yet played; the gameplay is nice and easygoing, more so than most Gradius/Paro games, and the music is outrageous and fun (love the disco level!). Game Tengoku is definitely the funniest cute 'em up I've played.
Star Parodier is great, but it's too easy.
Game Tengoku is one of my favorite shooters ever, cute or not.
Cotton 2 is a great game. There is one thing I don't understand about it: it seems you can capture enemies by using your shot in addition to throwing a crystal, but I have no idea how to make this happen. Help, anyone?

Si, senor. You can either use a special shot [Back, Forward+A / F, B+A / etc.] or pick up and then throw a crystal with the B button to encase an enemy in a bubble. To keep an enemy in its bubble, continually shoot it or throw it at enemies. Don't let it hang around too long with touching it or it will burst.Quote:

Wow, I would have never guessed that a special move input was how you use the capture shot. This game is a blast--one of my favorite Saturn games and maybe one of my all-time faves.Quote:

Click, you have once again proven yourself a prince among men. Thank you.

I've always been a fan of Magical Chase and Keio Flying Squadron.
No problem. The other two special shot commands are as follows, by the way:
F, UF, U + A
F, DF, D + A
One more thing, just for kicks: constantly shooting an encased enemy will result in increasing your MAX HIT. Doing this will also produce a life item.
Constantly throwing an encased enemy so that it strikes and destroys other enemies results in increasing your MAX CHAIN.
That's about it, I think.
Oh yea, you can also drop a little nut-type weapon with the press of [I think]:
F, F + A
This will also encase an enemy if it makes contact.
Magical Chase- One of the best looking Turbo games, wonderful color and design too. Too easy though.
Turbo had a decent catalog of these games with Fantasy Zone, Coryoon, Cloud Master, L-Dis, Star Parodier, Parodius, Air Zonk, Long Nose Gremlin etc.
A few years ago I drew something up like that. The levels had Nintendo themes like a Kirby world, and a jungle level with a giant enraged Donkey Kong as a boss. The playable characters were Donkey Kong Jr, Mario, Fox McCloud, and a little alien in a UFO.Quote:

neo, twinkle star sprites is excellent, but it's really only worthwhile with 2 players. bizzare game, though.. it takes a few plays (and a good faq) to get the mechanics down.
Fantasy Zone, Parodius (unlike Gradius, I actually feel the PArodius games got better and better. I like the Konnami GX iterations the most) and Cotton are the big 3 for me. I also enjoyed Twinbee, Gunbird and Space Bomber.
Game Tengoku is great. You fight against an Arm Champs II machine and fly over the (SNES) Tuff E Nuff!:) It was my first PCB.
Frog: Try the 337 code in Space Bomber.
Would you guys consider Psycho Soldier a shmup?
What code is that?Quote:

Anyway, insert your coin, then push Right, Right, Right, Left, Left, Left, Right, Right, Right, Right, Right, Right, Right You'll hear a chime for successfully doing it. Depending on which side you're on (1P or 2P) you'll get a souped-up version of your ship.
They also have a much longer capture claw, too.
If you push Up, Up, Up, Down, Down, Down, Up, Up, Up, Up, Up, Up, Up You'll get the "tetris ship". It can't capture, but it has a drill that can make very short work of enemies of any size.
Here is the "tetris ship".
