^ What he said. :D
Kid, let me tell you something. If you were to make some of the comments you made in this thread in real life to me, I would pop you like a grape. You are absolutely one of the best examples of what goes wrong when people don't know how to raise a kid.
My first car was a 1984 ford escort with a fucking AM radio. My second car is a 2000 Golf. Fully paid for. The only reason I was able to get the car was through a stroke of pure luck and generosity on my father's part. Instead of buying things for himself he secured me with a new car that would last for many years to come. At the moment, I'm paying all the bills in my house because my father can't (A town-house mind you, not a fucking estate). I've lived both lives (money and no money) and I learned most of the things I value most while I was living in a warehouse...
If you want to buy a fucking hummer, go ahead. We can't stop you. Don't come on here and flaunt your wealth around without expecting some heat from the pit. None of us want to hear about it...
Delete your thread before it gets even uglier.
*claps*
Here here. Hopefully the torches and pitchforks and impliments-of-destruction can go back in the shead.
...
For now.
Funny, I don't think I can picture myself ever buying a brand-new car ( unless there was some amazing financing or warranty with it ) you save so much money and get more car when you buy used, even if it's only a year or two old.Quote:

Wow. You must be so proud. I only drive American, and I've had very few problems with the GM's and Dodge's I've driven throughout my life. Not to mention that partially because of perceptions like yours, you can generally get more American car for your dollar than one that's "foreign". A good example I always use is the Eagle Talon vs the Mitsubishi Eclipse, both made in the same plant ( a joint project between Chrysler and Mitsu "DiamondStar" ) but yet the resale value is higher on the Eclipse because it's percieved as Japanese. Also, check out how much you'll be shelling out in parts for a foreign vs American. How much for an alternator? Keep your f**king Toyota.Quote:

Oh yea and Nissan? I thought us "good" Americans were supposed to be boycotting French products? ( Nissan's recent turnaround is due to Renault's controlling interest ). It's so heartwarming to know that by the time my kids are grown there probably won't even be an "American" car company left, a once great US industry destroyed by it's own sell-out consumers......
We could learn a little bit about loyalty from the Japanese.
Seriously though, it was a bad call to ask for this kind of help... you should have just lied and said you were doing a report for auto and wanted to find info on hummers... yup...

The reason the proletariat here are chewing out your bourgeois self is because you are exhibiting a flagrant waste of resources. Have you done a cost analysis of the Hummer or H2? Have you considered what percentage of their income a normal person would have to shell out to keep one of those things running?
No, you haven't.
Your thought process has been something like "Well, yeah, it costs alot. But Mom and Dad will pay for it."
What if Mom and Dad weren't paying for it? Would you still buy the vehicle?
No, probably not.
Yes, you're probably a responsible kid who takes care of his toys. However, you're also a first-time driver. The liklihood that you will get into a serious accident with that vehicle is much higher than it would be with a more experienced driver.
Do the smart thing and stay away from the expensive toy. Get a smaller car -- just because it's not high off the ground does not mean that it's not safe.

sphere, great avatar ;) (...damn the wright brothers...)
This whole thread is getting to everyone... icarus is right - delete the damn thing. Shoving wealth in peoples faces isn't the intention, granted. However, that is how it comes across... you have to realize that you are on a board flaunting your wealth when the majority of us go to work every day just to buy the latest videogame/dvd/cd...etc. How many people on here can really afford to buy a new car? Most people on the board are between 15-25... I know few people within this age that can get a brand new car. I never had mummy and daddy hand everything on a plate for me... hence the reason why I am saving up to get a car - one that is within my power, not my parents.
And the worst part of it all is you are acting the way people are portraying you as - a spoilt rich kid. Slamming us for not being able to afford a brand new hummer. <equal opportunity moderation> It isn't like YOU can afford one either - mummy and daddy can....
Thank you and goodnight.
I think this thread should be closed, but not deleted, it should stand as a monument of what not to do...
