Better Than Mom's?

There are some things in this world that nobody can make quite like mom. Everybody has their favorites and whatnot, that their mother would make.

Personally, my mom makes the best tomato soup in the world. I was reminded of it today as I had a can of that bloody Campbells crap. Man, how I hate store bought tomato soup. Mom's is spicy and just ... flavorful. Not this thickened red water crap.

And salsa. Mom makes the best salsa in the world. You simply cannot buy stuff that tastes this good. I've friends who come over who, after taking the chunks of tomato/veggies out of it, will drink the leftover sauce. It's that good.

Ah yes, the joys of mom's cooking. Anyone else have their favorites?

My mom makes pretty good pork chops and salmon. And her potato salad is pretty sweet too.

Dont get me started. My mom's a fucking awesome cook. Unfortunately, its been so long since Ive eaten a meal at home that Im beginning to forget what I really liked.

see... in my family its my dad who was the wonderful cook. the only think my mom makes well is soft boiled eggs. good god does she know how to soft boil those eggs.

my dad on the other hand I miss his: meatloaf, steak, pork chops, the way he made rice, french toast, pancakes, waffles, omlettes, hell even the way he buttered toast. This man made pizza from scratch I tell you. my mom just knew how to nuke stuff. mmm... french toast...

My mom cant cook for crap, my did is ok... my friends mom on the other hand can cook a load of good tasting foods.

But best of all, my aunt. Her mom has a spaghetti recipe in the family and its great. She can also cook other great things of all kinds, although she is a vegeterian, she cooks meat for us men folk. Har har har.

If I had to pick a favorite though it'd be a tie between her yakimondo and kimbop.

My grandfather makes the greatest mashed potatoes I've ever had in my life.

My mom... I'm sure she makes something good, but I didn't care enough to apprieciate it. I never really cared that much the quality of the food I ate, so long as it tasted good (generally that means sugar).

Too many things... I think I was blessed with one of the best parental cooking tandems in the world. Between the two of them they could make a good version of anything. Homemade pizza, homemade lasagna, homemade rice pudding, homemade prociutto wrapped stuffed chicken breast, anything. I’m not sure I could compile a list that would do them justice.

switch mom with grandmother, and you have my situation, i dont know too many dishes that dont taste better when she makes them. I am a good cook, but i cant get that taste out of things. plus, one good thing about having someone who lived through the depression, they cook for 4 when there are 2.

I can't think of anything that Mom cooked that tasted anything less than great. But she makes the best Pasta and Lasanga around speaking of which that's what I'm having tonight. ohhhhh joy.
