There is no way that you can think GE is better than Halo. I refuse to accept your opinion. :kirby:

No, I've just played better, that's all.Quote:

Sounds like a case of "I hate it because its popular" to me. HARDCORE!
You typed that wrong: More bumpmapping + less polys = better framerate = tighter gameplay.Quote:
And for those who don't care about graphics: More bumpmapping = less polys = better framerate = tighter gameplay.
That's just because you can't keep up. ;)Quote:
I refuse to acknowledge a game without scoped weapons or the ability to club people with your gun as a superior alternative.
Umm, nope. Sorry. If you've played Bungie's Marathon series, you'll see that Halo pales in comparison.Quote:

Halo's only good level is The Silent Cartographer. All the indoor levels are bland and look the same, and once the Flood comes into play, the game falls apart.
Top FPS games that are better than Halo:
Marathon
Half-Life
Deus Ex
System Shock
Doom
Quake
TimeSplitters 2
Metroid Prime
Edit: How could I forget TS2?!?
you would think bungie would take note of goldeneye. it is the best console fps ever and they could have made the deathmatch fun by following their example.
i said the deathmatch in halo sucked. i liked the co-op at points though. it got really boring, but it was good. deathmatch and co-op are very different fyi. ;)
Name one aspect of GE's mutliplayer that is superior to Halo's.
Also, even if you a die-hard GE style fps player, you'd be dumb not to play TS2, if not Halo. TS2 is like GE, except without all the crap that makes GE suck these days.
i have played ts2. it's okay. lots of options which is cool. the control is kinda meh on the xbox though. i haven't played the other versions so i can't comment on all of them. very fun though, much like goldeneye.
halo just wasn't as fun. i don't know why.
That's not what you said.Quote:

You were referring to the multiplayer experience, which includes co-op play. You contradicted yourself.
Again, make up your fucking mind.
Time Splitters does seem a bit empty. It's not the same without real bond guns. For FPS the sound of a gun and the animation of the hit is so important, but in TS2 you don't get that.
Good game, but nothing too special.
My opinion on your choices:Quote:

Marathon - Arguably.
Half-Life - Single player, no. Halo's better. Im playing through HL now, many parts are amazingly tight - On a Rail, Surface Tension - but just as many are just "quite good" and a couple are even "poor"... as a cohesive whole its fantastic but I dunno Halo's SP is better if you ask me. . Multiplayer... depends. Deathmatch, Halo is better. In terms of modes, though, obviously Half-Life is better.
Deus Ex - Better singleplayer, but then again Deus Ex is as much of an FPS as...
System Shock - This game is more of an adventure game in first person than a true shoot-em-up like Halo. I dont think its fair to compare the two necessarilly, but hey, whatever. Plus this has no multiplayer.
Doom - Singleplayer, no. Singleplayer Doom is pretty boring and very simple nowadays (three keys, every level, blah). Multiplayer... maybe. As a visceral deathmatch, Doom is great. However I would take Halo DM over it.
Quake - Singleplayer, FUCK NO. Singleplayer Quake is trash. Multiplayer... I prefer Halo. Quake online is wildly unbalanced (rocket launcher = dominance), but its pretty fun. Still prefer Halo, but I can see why someone would think its better.
Time Splitters 2 - Erm, Halo is better. TS2 is good but I like Halo's feel a lot more.
Metroid Prime - Ive never put time into this, but I have heard this statement TONS of times on this board - "MP isnt an FPS". So, okay... its not an FPS. Plus no multiplayer.
Anyway here are some titles I wanted to throw out there:
No One Lives Forever - best SP FPS out, but multiplayer, Halo's better.
Quake 2 - Shitty SP, amazing deathmatch play that's better than Halo.
Unreal Tournament - Better multi, but singleplayer? There's no singleplayer there.
Anyway, my conclusion is: WHO THE FUCK CARES? Halo is a top-tier FPS, undoubtedly, and it can hang with any of the greats of the genre. Easily. The singleplayer is champ and the multi is great, great fun. As you can see from my post, very few games have the total package like Halo. Im so sick of hearing people on this board (and this board only) whine about how "overrated" this game is and shit. Its a fucking great title, especially with some friends and some beer.
If you think GE's multiplayer is better than Halo's, you're on crack. Really, really bad crack.
The fact that those graphics are in-game is amazing. This game will definitely take the title of "Best Graphics Ever." For a short time, of course...
