Oh a secret, I always thought that entertainment industries were horrible at keeping secrets. But since it turned out Half-Life 2 was a secret for 5 years, I have new faith in their ability to keep their lips sealed.
Sounds good.
Could this be why Nintendo's been shoving its core properties out to 2nd and 3rd party developers? We need to be careful to avoid over-speculation, but it kind of fits... Is Miyamoto actually working on a game, rather than "producing"?
We'll see. Nintendo is 'rumoured' to be working on a MMO as well, with people being interviewed with MMO RPG back histories (Anarchy Online, etc.)
It's weird. But Nintendo has always been good at keeping secrets. For the longest time we had no news about Mario Kart or even a confirmation outside a few fake screenshots.
And that Half life 2 thing just blows me away.
MEGATON111
Secret Miyamoto Project? Could it be the long-awaited remake to Radar Scope. :P
Chances are that since it's top-secret, it probably a new Miyamoto series and not a sequel to an existing game.
...
Burgundy, I declare that to be one of my favorite posts ever.
:)
Just don't hype it up too much.
Heres the key to enjoying games and hell anything in life
Do not go into them thinking they are going to be the greatest thing in your life
no matter how good they may be theyre not going to live up to that
go into things expecting something decent and be pleasently surprised if its really good
STOP THE HYPE!
Yeah! We all learned that lesson with MGS2, haven't we?Quote:

No. MGS2 was good. Fuck the haters.
I doubt it. he hasnt' done that in like 8 years or something. My guess it its something like Pikmin, where he came up with the characters and the theme himself, and then produced it. I don't think he will ever direct again.Quote:

Either way, nothing else at E3 matters much to me when compared to whatever this turns out to be.
Hey! Don't get me wrong. I liked MGS2 and I'm a big Kojima nut, but Konami's hype machine made it looked like a bigger thing than what it really was. I wasn't actually expecting much for it though, other than playing as Snake for the whole game (which wasn't the case).Quote:

God. Nintendo slaps Miyamot's game on everything. I really wonder what he actually does at this point. And of course as soon as they do everyone will exclaim OMFG! Miyamoto!
Not like Sega fans don't do it with Yu Suzuki or Yuji Naka, but at least they're alot more closely involved with the games they work on.
Nintendo seems to think Miyamoto's touch is needed everywhere. Did games like Shadows of the Empire and Eternal Darkness need any Miyamoto involvement? Of course not. They really need to get him focused on one or two games at a time.
Anyone who says it wasn't good is wrong, but was it as good as hoped for? No way in hell, at least my opinion.Quote:

HAHAHA...well, Sega does it too, but they're justified. Hell, they could kill a man and I'd be fine with it. As long as the body has the official Sega seal of approval. =p
Words to live by people. I've made a real effort to stop being jaded for well over ten years now and I'm a much happier gamer for it. Believe it or not, there's some form of entertainment to be had in most games nowadays. The days of Shaq Fu are behind us, hopefully for good :)Quote:

Miyamoto walks through an office to get some coffee due to his secretary not making it fast enough and the development house and game are labelled Miyamoto's First born or something.
The game will be great, all Nintendo games have been for Gamecube thus far.
There is no doubt in my head this game will be good... all Miyamoto's games are good... the thing is will it be great? time will tell...

please be a metal combat sequel...
I hope Miyamoto didn't use his home for inspiration again. Although he could probably craft an interesting game from inspration from his sink.
What? The statement was correct, despite the fact that it came from Andrew.Quote:

I can't argue with Andrew's statement. Every Nintendo release has given me exactly what I wanted out of it, and in the case of Animal Crossing, much more.
I don't know what I did to deserve the hate, but I try to contribute well enough, if you have any problems with me you know where the PM system is.
To get back on topic, I never found any of the Gamecube offerings from a first party standpoint to be bad, or even mediocre in that aspect. Even Mario Sunshine has amazing play mechanics if you didn't like the atmosphere or level designs.
I suppose it just comes down to difference of opinions and tastes.
Its strange, I get no satisfation from Nintendo games at all. Yeah, the engine changes, but apart from that, little or no inovation goes into bringing new ideas or characters. The few things that do break out are half assed, because Nintendo dosent value anything that dosent have a well know name to it.
Every Nintendo game this generation has been good, with the exceptions of NBA courtside and Animal Leader.
here's what Matt Casamassina had to say about the game.
if that Miyamoto magic is there, then so am i. anyways, this one seems like it's gonna be really different. can't wait to see what it is on tuesday.Quote:
I'm also waiting to see what becomes of some of the games I know Nintendo is working on. Yes, like this off-the-wall game that Miyamoto is working on that I can't wrap my mind around. Every time I think about it, I wonder: what's the point? I can't figure out why he would bother with such a game, really. But I'm still intrigued; I want to be wrong here, and I'm sure that if anybody can prove me so, he can.
i wonder that it could possibly be though. i mean, when have you ever heard Matt Casamassina say something like "I can't figure out why he would bother with such a game, really." about anything that Miyamoto has worked on?
man, this next week is gonna be tough.
well, there's always wario ware.)Quote:

What are you talking about? I agree, the releases have been stagnant with innovation. But the engines themselves are usually three times better than their counterparts by any other companies, on the Gamecube or any other system.Quote:

Zelda compared to Dark Cloud 2, Mario Sunshine compared to Jak and Daxter or Ratchet and Clank (which I loved) are proof. The gameplay controls tighter, the mechanics are more enhanced and intuitive.
I know you may not like the themes, characters and stories, but by all means, Nintendo releases very few things 'half assed'.
Miyamoto makes games like Webern made music.
You may not like it or understand it but there is no doubt that it is art in the highest form.

Man this game is going to be totally sweet.
Erm what genre is it again? Got the screenshots?
I bet the people that have really come up with the designs and ideas for all 'his' games are livid he gets all the credit.
Well considering that Mario, Link, Donkey Kong, Pikmin, and a bunch of others were all his Ideas I don't think they can get that mad.
