I used to order from NCS a lot but VGD has all my import business now. They know how to show the Genesis love. :)

the flip-top mod can be used to play cdrs and dvdrs. i doubt that any import site is eager to be next on sony's list.
The problem is it doesn't work 100% of the time. Personally I don't know all about it, but if you start a topic on the board a bunch of the guys here know about it. Any import solution we would carry has to be damn near 100% perfect at playing imports (which is what kills the fliptop) and fairly easy to install (which is the reason we don't bother with the messiah since they're basically hell on earth to do). It's unfortunate, but right now a JPS2 is still the best choice. Although if you're looking to get one, I would honestly say it's a good idea to wait another month or so before buying one. The new 50000 series is just starting to ship next week and prices are going to be inflated for at least a few weeks untill Sony gets enough of them on the market.Quote:

Is there any reason why import sites like VGD, or NCSX, don't support the Flip Top for ps2? Is there something wrong with it that most customers should know about?
An import ps2 is WAY too expensive for my book, and the Flip Top seems like a very cheap alternative, and easy to install as well.
I'm just wondering why no import sites have picked it up?
And also what he said as well.Quote:

Piracy sucks.
Thanks, I did not know that.
It's just every board I go to with ps2 imports (mainly on GFaqs) they say how the Flip Top is so much better than a mod chip for imports.
But now that's all cleared up. Kinda sucks, I'd rather buy from VGD than some website, but it can't be avoided.
Too bad playing imports can't be as easy as it was with DC, and currently is with GC.
EDIT: There we go, new topic is made. I wish I could afford a japanese ps2, but at 300 a pop it's way more than I can spend at the moment.
I used to use NCS all the time but now I prefer to use PriestJPN/Tokuda. I don't need to look through a badly put together catalogue with a limited stock range as I know they can get anything I want be it new or old releases :)
They are charging in advance now? I bet this is all my fault...they shipped me a copy of DDPDOJ and after 2 weeks they still hadn't charged me. So I wrote them and said HEY YOU DIDN'T CHARGE ME. And so they charged me, but didn't really thank me for being honest or anything so they can go eat balls. Never shoulda said anything. Jerkasses.
If you decided to be honest like that, I think they should owe you thanks. If I were the HMFIC there, I'd have written a thank you email back and/or enclosed a note with your next purchase.Quote:

a fliptop is NOT the best thing for imports. the flip top and swap magic has its downside, like not being able to play any cd over 650 mb and needing a different disc to play ps1 games. and doing the swap trick a lot.
if you really want to play imports dont be a cheap bitch and get that little green board in my sig. i think its funny that people can spend $300+ an another system because getting a chip at 1/3 the price installed for you is a bad investment. oh wait....getting a messiah 2 automatically means PIRACY and getting a jap ps2 is so much more ROXORS!
I think they should've sent me one of those Evangelion panty shot statues. Dickweeds.Quote:

Dyne: The problem is, there's no one here that can install it for me, and there's no way my first lesson in soldering is going to be on the ps2.
