Average?
Uh, yeah. Right.
What sort of style is Mario supposed to have? Cel-shading? Gouraud shading? Abstract art? Anime?
The look of this game is entirely true to the development of the style of Mario games from the start. Save for Mario 2, there's been a logical progression in character and world design -- even the jump to 3D has been consistant with the 2D games. You are correct in that this design is nothing new for Nintendo -- it's just a modification of what was done with Sunshine, SSBM, SBM, Mario Kart 64 and Mario 64.
What's wrong with this? Why should Nintendo ditch the entire Mario aesthetic? This is the original deal here -- Mario's look defined current console gaming. Yeah, there's alot of "cooler" or more "hip" stuff out there, but it's like asking Disney to ditch their cartoony designs and trademark fluid animation -- I could easily make the argument that their designs are boring and crappy, and their fluid animation actually detracts from the "lifelike" movements they try to achieve. However, they set the standard for others to follow and kept redefining it, just as Nintendo has done and continues to do.
You are entitled to your opinion, even though I don't understand it and think that all the detractors in this thread are whining for no good reason.
I'm with Sidez...I dont like Blue Storm at all either, especially compared to the original. I've beat BS on all modes I've played the hell out of it, left it, came back for more to make sure I wasn't smokin' crack for not liking it, but the game just ain't fun...it's like fighting and wrestling with the choppy controls due to the waves. Realistic I guess but I don't find it fun at all. The original was just FUN to play and ride them waves...BS is just too jerky and yes I know how to play the game and all it's gameplay intricacies and it IS complex, I just don't like it, don't find it fun, and think the graphics are unimpressive...I MUCH prefer the look of the original. In fact, I prefer the original in every way, even graphics (not techinically, obviously)...they look nicer/less rough.
Just because Sidez knows that Sega kicks Nintendo's ass six ways from Sunday doesn't mean that he is making baseless accusations. :cool:Quote:

Mario Kart looks dope.
Action seems fast, lots of little touches (Luigi holding the mushrooms), and the track design looked decent.
Can't wait to see more.
Meh.
Yeah yeah whatever about playing it.
Its fair to say shots don't exactly wet the appitite.
Why is that that save for Metroid Prime, most of Nintendo's GC games unimpressive graphically so far? I'm used to them being the best at showing the power of their systems, but they haven't really delivered too much. Sure, their games never look bad graphically, just uninspired.
I will, however, play the hell out of MK DD, so long as it continues to be as fun as the series has been in the past. Sure the game only looks so-so. The gameplay should rock, though.
I'm looking here... looking.... still looking....Quote:

Nintendo are one of my favourite developers (Sega, Capcom, Taito, Namco and Konami being the others) but I really don't like their GBA or GC games in general. If I don't like something, i'll say it instead of blindly accepting any old shit. At the end of the day it doesn't matter to me that much if WR:BS, MK:DD, SMS, Metroid Fusion suck as I have WR64, SMK, SM64 and Super Metroid.
Oh and Made in Wario is my favourite game this generation along with VF4E. Also I do try ALL of these Nintendo games.
Nintendo fans are hilarious :)
How does this change anything I said?
BTW, nice collection. You're entitled to your opinion though. I just don't see a huge point to telling others to write off a title because of your preferences. Every Mario Kart game I've played has been really really fun and good. This isn't blind, it's a good track record.
THANK YOU! All the others weren't working at all.Quote:

Game looks better in motion than it does in the screens but it's nothing amazing. Should be fun to play though.
And we all know Sega is doing well because of this. Good job guys. *thumbs up*Quote:

How so? By the hi-polygon and stylish models? Or the clarity rendered track with vast landscapes around it? Under-achieving is the wrong sentiment to use. They have their own style for the Mario universe, you're NOT EVER going to see RE style graphics in a Mario game, and if they did it, it would be idiotic.Quote:

The games graphics emphasis the Mushroom Kingdom, are modelled and animated extremely well to boot. There are few companies that match its graphical quality (Nintendo). So please elaborate on 'run of the mill'.
I think digits indicate sarcasm. Usually.
So quick with the defense! Jeez it's as if your weekly wage is coming from NOA or something... ;)
