If you go for a speed run or only play for the sake of "progress" your first time through, sure it might be that short. But half of the fun is exploring and trying to go places you're not "supposed" to go. Like I said, I'm 2 hrs in and only beat Kraid so far. There's much more here than the original Metroid to be sure.

It is much larger than the original Metroid. The "guidance" and auto map removes much aimless wandering, and that may make it seem shorter. However, as I said you are free to ignore the guidance and go where ever the hell you want. The path to get where it's telling you to go is also usually hidden.
