How's everybody doing on Hard Mode? Mother Brain is a total bitch.
Question for those who've beaten the game...
Is there any way to get out of Chozaria? I finally found the Super Bombs in there, and I'd love to try that and the Screw Attack out on Zebes, but I can't find a way out...
Power Bomb the glass tube between the ruins and the ship.
Use a Super Bomb at the glass tube pathway (near the bottom of Chozodia) to break it, drop down to left side, then use another Super Bomb to open the new section leading back to Crateria.Quote:

The original Metroid is my favourite in the series, and while this doesn't quite have the same weird atmosphere the NES game did (all those extra graphics leave less to the imagination), it has a ton of great ideas the original didn't.
I'll reserve judgement until I'm done, but this might end up being my favourite in the series. Wow, Nintendo's made a game I actually enjoy (Prime was cool, but for some reason it started giving me headaches)...what next?
So for it's length, what do you guys say? Buy or rental, and im a big arse Metroid fan.
Buy. Play through the game a 2nd time, on Hard mode.
Then play the original Metroid that's also included.
It's $20.00 at Best Buy, wtf.
Metroid I comes with it [as a reward I suppose].............. I............thank you, buy! :D
The sale ended, slugger.Quote:

Almost forgot to ask. I beat the game once already and didn't get hard mode, seriously... WTF?!?
Copy your completed game file, select that new copy and select start new game. Hard mode will then be an option.
This game was damn good...........while it lasted.
"Thank you, can I have another"?
It lasted one whole day... Color me dissapointed. Still I have Hard mode and Original to go through.
Yeah... 4:47 hardly counts as a full game to me. And that last boss... wow, it was able to hit me once before it took 30 seconds to kill it. The two mecha-space pirates guarding the last door of the escape are much more of a challenge than the final boss. I loved most of this game but the short length and really easy bosses are rediculas.
to repeat: try hard mode. it's a bitch.
Yeah, I'll try it on hard more but it'll be missing the pleasure that's found playing through a game for the first time. and, TO REPEAT: it should have been unlocked to begin with.
I believe this news.
I'd like to see an extreme mode.
What sucks is when you get powered up enough, everything turns into a cake walk, it would be great if areas would start to adjust in order to keep your playing skills sharp.
Hmmm... I seem to have found a glitch in the game. I'm playing it through on hard mode and I went exploring a bit and wound up in Crateria. I walked over to the Chozo statue that gave me an unknown item and the ability to shoot some of those Chozo blocks. Twoards the left side of the room there was a Chozo block underwater with a missle tank in it. Of course i went to get the missle tank and now, I because I don't yet have the high jump or the grip to pull myself up and because I'm in water, I can't jump high enough to get out of the little ditch I'm in. Sucks.
*edit*
Nevermind, I'm stupid, part of the wall can be blown away to create a step.
I wish more games were this length.... All I want from a game these days is a good quality 4-5 hours. $25 and 4-5 hours is perfect. I'd buy nothing but games like that if more great ones were made.
Heh heh. I did the same thing.Quote:

You can't get powered up enough in hard mode. You just have to learn not to get hit.Quote:

I agree with this notion. Hopefully a game this length has some nice replay value though, if you're so inclined to do so.Quote:

Where'd you get it for $20?
Best Buy dealie with the gift card. Long gone, now.
Pay attention!
$15 on ebay.
Then it's not new.Quote:

God I hate ebay people so much.
I'm also 90% sure it's probably a bootleg.Quote:

No kiddin? Damn, I was gonna bet on it.
$15 + $7 shipping is $22. $26 if you want it insured. Just go to BB and get it for $25 after GGC.
Pretty neato.
Cool ending, nice nod to other games in the series.
I still don't like the original Metroid.
I like Fusion better.
insert credit pointed to this site that's found Crocomire hidden inside of the game-

Whoa... awesome. Wonder why he didn't make it into the game in the end.
HOW THE FUCK DO I GET OUT OF THE ROOM IN CHOZODIA WHERE YOU GET THE FULLY-POWERED SUIT?
Thank you in advance.
EDIT: n/m, agh, what a stupid room. I hate bomb jumping.
cant you just do that spinny air jump thing?Quote:

Silly me. *blush*
I'm loving it so far...I like that it has more of the Super Metroid "creepy" feel than Fusion did. I thought maybe it'd be a bummer starting from scratch again after just beating Fusion, but nope, still fun powering up all over again. Never having played the original (I have played Super, 2, and Fusion), it was weird having to get a "long beam" powerup. :)
Still, this game holds your hand almost as much as Fusion did...man, Id kill for a Metroid game where you were truly on your own and had to figure out where to go next, like in Super.
I've just finished it and I loved every minute. Especially impressed at the extra section that had stealth elements. It's nice that they put the original Metroid in as a bonus but i've always found it to be a pretty wretched game. Hopefully Nintendo will decide to port Super Metroid and put as much care into it as they did Zero Mission.
Super Metroid is perfect as it is.Quote:

yeah i agree Metroid 2 is in bad need of a remake on the level of ZM
I disagree, Metroid 2 is irredeemably shit and no amount of GBA gloss can overcome that. I'll gladly be proved wrong though.
Super Metroid with knobs on for GBA is what i'm after.
You can and will be proved wrong.Quote:

The only way to give Super Metroid that care and treatment is to leave it alone. Port it so it runs EXACTLY as is on the SNES.
Metroid 2 was a great game when it was released and would benefit greatly from the "Zero Mission" treatment.
Ridley's death-screech in this game is a bone-chilling affair.
Did you really just dig up a three year old thread for that?
I did.
I support this.
I approve.
Metroid <3
No go with FPS? I thought it alright, but hey. Lots of people prefer the older Metroid, and I don't blame them. It worked incredibly well as a platformer.
Backtracking is a bit more of a pain since you can't dash, but otherwise the Prime games have been great. Yes, Echoes too.
I played about seven hours or so of the first Metroid Prime. I felt bored, dizzy, and had no drive to ever touch the disc again. I tried a few years later to get into it again - same experience, but with less dizzy.
Metroid Prime Hunters I just felt was a complete mess.
I think you pretty much hit it on the head, though. I'm not a huge FPS fan and the last time one really drew me in was Quake on the PC.
Metroid 2 would actually be great for a remake... wait, I just realized that if Nintendo were to continue the Metroid remakes (pattern wise)... Metroid 2 will be released this year...
MP: Fun, need Jap version so I can play Very Hard.
MP2: Odd compared to the first. Okay but not epic.
MPH: End of the world. Only good for multiplayer.
Not too much of a FPS person myself, though if I wanna play Perfect Dark, I will. Same goes for any FPS I pick up. It's just I'm not this uber player. Now I need to find a Marathon 2 manual code...
The first one was fairly boring, I never tried the second one.
Like I said, the second one does not feel like the first.
If you don't like the first, maybe the second will work. Dunno though, it plays the exact same. Just new weapons...
And wtf limited ammo.
And the Boost Boss can be a pain.
EDIT: Wait, does my opinion matter?
I don't have a cube or Wii anymore so I won't ever play another Metriod prime.
I'll borrow my sister's Wii for Fire emblem the last good Nintendo Franchise and go on my way.
IBTN
(Hunters sucks though but that's not a retro prime game)
Metroid II deserves a remake though. Zero Mission was awesomely handled, and I would love to see the same thing done to II, because II is on the verge of being too much of a pain in the ass to play any more.
