This is the third company in less than a week that I've heard complain about Sony rejecting their games. Sony is also saying no to Agetec bringing over Space Channel 5 parts 1 and 2 ( http://www.tokidokijournal.com/featu...ay2.htm#agetec ) because of the game's graphics.

What the fuck. This bullshit about Sony not approing games based on graphics is really pissing me the fuck off. They have no damn problem allowing companies to release 865 Army Men games, shit like Pryzm, Shifters, That dragon game, and I could go on for days about the horrid shit thats tried to pass off as "games". It pains me to see shit like this rot on the shelf while great games are left in Japan because they aren't good enough for the average moron to play, oh I'm sorry, Look at. After all, that's what we do, we look at games, not play them, right. Stupid bastards. Blah Blah Blah Fuck Sony....No need to type anymore.

I looked in the article, and didn't see them mention the graphics? I would think, in this case, it would have to do with a lawsuit going on right now over SC 5 and it's main character.

That's just another reason why the process is wrong.

it's not really about graphics anymore. it's about the fact that stores are totally saturated with titles, with 4 platforms (hell, 5 with PC) going at it, and they want to make sure there's room for stuff like GTA and madden. literal, physical room in stores is why sony is failing stuff like SC5 and ys nowadays. sad but true. too bad you can't have boutique publishing or mail order and make it work. i think this will be the only possible upswing of the potential of online distribution in the future.

scarily enough, suddenly the PS2 being the most popular console may have swung from a good thing over into being a bad thing, at least as far as gamers who like niche titles go.

The stores in Japan must have huge shelves then. Smart (okay, lazy) people order online anyway. :p

Hrmm, you're right. Not sure why I didn't put that in.
But the Agetec guy definately said it was because Sony said the graphics in Space Channel 5 parts 1 and 2 were not good enough.

My EB and Gamestop have a ton of room for titles... just give it to them, like most of the ps1 games coming out.

But you're right, I noticed at Best Buy today the only things to buy were those that were either greatest hits, or got great review scores and a ton of sales.

No niche titles or anything.

What happened to the days of Tengen? Why can't they just publish it unofficially like back in the day? Fuck Sony, they're out to kill the 2D market.

I don't see why SCEA thinks these games graphics will give them a bad name when plenty of other games get released for the system that have amazing graphics. Its not like someone will look at Gran Turismo 4 and go, "Wow, those graphics are amazing, but look at Ys Perfect, bleh the PS2 is so weak."

I have Zero interest in Ys Perfect but I do have interest in a more interesting library of software, why not let the Publishing company worry about the sales, rather than Sony worrying if it will make their systems power look weak. I mean after all the companys have to pay Sony for the rights to make it for the PS2, so what does Sony really have to lose? Its not like its some Hentai game that might make them look like scum to parents.

I am sick of SCEA shutting the door on unique games. I was interested in the PS2 Goemon that WD was going to publish, but SCEA said NO! SCEA did'nt even want to publish Ape Escape 2, at least they let someone like Ubi Soft (man I am loving Ubi Soft these days) publish it.

Yet games like World Destruction Leauge and End Game are allowed to be published. Makes no sense to me.
