How do you beat the heat?
Perhaps this question/survey will only apply to those of us men who live in the scortched lands, not you northmen - but anyone feel free to reply. I live in Houston, Texas where we go from SUMMER to not quite summer - then back to SUMMER again. Two seasons. Well, ok - we do get fairly mild to chilly (40 degree) winters down here but they're few in coming. In our winters however - you can wear what you want, and go out how you want, mainly because its cold enough to where you could wear a jacket, but you'd do fine without one too.
In the summer however, its time for the great invisible toungue to come out again. We not only have to deal with oppressive straight up heat, but nearly 90%-100% humidity as well! Suppose you just finish taking a shower, getting dressed, feeling all good and neat, and you walk outside to your car - you get slurped by the inivisible humidity tounge, all it takes is a couple seconds to a minute before you're already taking a shower again - but in your clothes this time!
The way I plan to beat the heat this year is to simplify things. I am just going to stay indoors for 99% of the summer. The way I reason it, the only time I need to go outside is to get from my house to my car in the driveway, and from my car in the parking lot to the A/C-ed building I work at. Instead of trying to fight the summer in vain and spending time outside like I've done in the past - I'll beat the tounge and the sun at their own game and refuse to come out. HA!
Oh and... drink lots of water.
