Shining Force 2 (Genesis), Ogre Battle (SNES) or Ogre Battle 64 (N64)?
I've got some extra cash, all of these games have gotten very good reviews.

Ogre Battle 64
Shining Force 2.
If you enjoyed Shining Force, you can't go wrong with SFII, its essentially more of the same thing.
Going off of memory, the battles are quicker paced (the computer takes his turn faster than before) and there is a bit more exploration through the country side (not much, just more wandering through the country than the first game), but nothing too RPG'ish.
The caravan was a nice innovation over part I, as well. This allowed you to choose your battle party where ever you were in the country side, so you didn't have to go into town to do it.
I love strat/rpg's, but Ogre Battle 64 was not my cup of tea.
DragonForce is one of my favorite games of all time, and definitely my favorite strat/rpg, if you haven't played that one, do what you can to secure a copy.
Ogre Battle 64.
Vanguard Bandits. Or Kartia.
OB64 > OB

I personally prefer the "tactics" style gameplay to that of the OB games, but they are totally different games.
tactics games seem to be making an explosion of late. Has anyone else heard anything about the GBA's Onimusha Tactics, set for release this summer?

I'm a huge fan of the genre, so if you haven't already heard, I suggest you take a little stroll over here and take a look.
Yoshi, hehe.
We agreed earlier that we'd each buy a new Sega console.
I saw the trailer... very impressive. I just hope you don't have to watch the entire animation every time, I rarely have the patience for that.Quote:

I said the exact same thing in that thread. RedKoKid<sp?> seems to think that if it's anything like the other games the developer has done we'll have to wait through it...Quote:

Have to wait and see I suppose.
I'm almost as excited about this as I was for Hoshigami, so if Disgaea turns out to be even "above-average" I think I'll be estatic.
Well, As it was said above, check out Dragon Force if you have Saturn. Hell of a strategy rpg, and fun one at that :)
Also dont forget Shining Force 3.
As for the list you have, get Shining Force 2.
Vandal Hearts is a very good little known Strategy RPG for the PSX that I would recommend getting if you don't have it already :)
Shining Force II would probably be the cheapest of the 3 games you mentioned, Ogre Battle and Ogre Battle 64 go for at least $40-$50, more if complete and mint.
I would also recommend Growlanser II and Growlanser III for PS2... but I don't expect them to be out for some time :(
Also Fire Emblem is finally making it stateside for the GBA, I would highly recommend that game :D
It's up to that? Wheee. I don't even remember buying OG64, but I'm glad I have it complete. :)Quote:

as far as your picks go, I dunno. Get Shining force 2 and OB 64, I suppose.
Thanks for the replies.
I think I'll go with Ogre Battle 64 right now but judging from all the recommendations it got, I'll have to purchase Shining Force 2 at some point.
Thanks again.
