According to Variety, Nicholas Cage is set to star in a Hollywood adaptation of Namco's Dead to Rights. He will also share producing responsibilities on the film, which will share the same name as the game. Screenwriter Kevin Brodbin, known for his work on The Glimmer Man, is on board to write the script once the project is sold to a studio.
A sequel to Dead to Rights is currently on schedule for a holiday 2004 release.
Since no one will notice that the movie's about a game, at least it won't tank for that reason.

Still I hear the film Nicholas Cage directed (Sonny, if I'm not mistaken) is supposed to be really good. But getting the writer of The Glimmer Man wasn't the best concievable choice.
Good to see you know longer need to base movies on good games. Wait. Mortal Kombat was on the silver screen. Apparently quality source material was never a criterion.

So wait - they paid money to license a plot based around "an ex-cop on the run, framed by the mob and wrongly convicted of a crime he didn't commit! Can he find his family's killers and bring them to justice before the law tracks him down?"
Bwaaa haaa haaa haaaa haaa!!! Dead to Rights = every Steven Seagal movie ever. It's like a studio paying extra to option a romantic comedy game about a girl who's about to marry a rich jerk, but is convinced to run off with a regular guy through a series of comic hijinks.
They probably could have saved a ton of money by hiring the same out-of-work porn director they always get to write the script, and calling it Dead to Die or something like usual.
Unless, y'know, they're hoping to capitalize off the game's rabid fanbase :lol:

I actually liked Dead to Rights a little bit...but... Nicholas Cage? He looks NOTHING like the main character. Ya know, flipping through the channels, Charlie Sheen looks alot like him, they should have got him.Quote:

Nicholas Cage playing Jack Slate is almost as bad as him potentially playing Superman. I cannot realistically picture Cage diving with two hand guns and blowing suckers backs out with shotgun blasts.:confused: He is going to ruin a cool character!!! I actually like the guy he is a good person and a decent actor, but Jack Slate he is not.
