EGM reported on this two issues ago; it's hardly big news. They're going to add a "making of" disc. No mention of "actually finishing the game", whatever that means.

Listen, you guys just go ahead and bitch about the game and ignore what me and Regus have said. This is a more than decent game which just happens to have a ton of exclusive Matrix content. If that appeals to you, get the game.

There's that phrase again "ton of exclusive matrix content".

If it wasn't tied in to the matrix, this game would hardly have been noticed, that's the point most people are making.

Yeah, we get it, the game is good for a Matrix game, which is sorta what I would expect, what with it BEING a Matrix game and all. I'm not expecting tons of character depth, or mind-blowing gameplay that revolutionizes gaming at every turn. I'm lookng for something that is fun to play, AND does the license justice.

EtM isn't perfect, but once you learn the controls it does replicte the action of the movies rather well, IMO. Despite the linearity there are a good number of ways to handle situations and dispose of the badies. I liked it alot, FYI i played as ghost only; no one seems to like Niobes' side.

See, I don't understand this. Why settle? I have no opinion on the game itself, being that I haven't played it, but I don't see why I should play a game that's only decent just because of the license.

And I hope anyone who calls this the best movie-licensed game ever has put in some serious time with GoldenEye.

I only played Enter the Matrix briefly but it seemed quite good, especially if you're into Max Payne-type stuff.

The best movie-licensed game ever is still Midway's Discs of TRON.

Burg, I don't view it as "settling", I just have lower expectations for licensed games.

I said from day one that I was going to buy this game no matter how hard it sucked. My $50 bucks wasn't for the game, it was for the movie merchandise. Just like a Matrix poster, or Matrix action figure or anything else I got Matrix related. I wanted this game for the deleted movie scenes (which is how I see the FMV in this game).
Was I hoping for a good game?

Yeah.

Did I expect one?

No.

Did I get one?

Not really.

But by the same token, I don't think it is slop either. I see people getting excited about little minigames and flash games and things of the ilk that relate to their favorite franchises (The downloadable GBA Nights game in PSO for example) all the time. It's a cool little novelty, if not a great time spender. Same thing goes with cell phone games. I know I was excited when I got "King of Fighters" on my Samsung N400. Was it a good game? Hell no! But, I had "King of Fighters" on my freakin' cellphone! Too cool!

This is kind of the same idea. I am excited to get to control my little piece of The Matrix universe. I like the liscensed music. I LOVE the deleted scenes. I like the little nods to the movies (like the 2 player mode where you can battle in some of the envronments from the 1st movie). I like the Hacking mode. I like fighting (and running like hell from) agents. Bottom line is, I love The Matrix, so I'm interested in this game.

Burg, I don't really consider that settling. Just like I'll buy any WWE game that comes out, I'd likely buy any Matrix game that came out, because I'm a huge fan of the source material. Pac Man Fever sucked balls, but I like the idea of playing a party game with little Heihachi and little Astaroth. WWE Crush Hour sucked balls, but I liked the idea of freakin' car combat with Chuck Palumbo.

If they ever make an awesome Matrix based game, it'll be icing on the cake, but I'd probably be pleased with any game based on The Matrix.

Actually, scratch that. If some developers just went out and did a half assed Matrix game with no help from the actors, no support from the directors, and no assets from the film set, then I wouldn't be interested. But the bottom line is that ETM is a vital part of The Matrix universe (being that it was written and directed by the Wachowski brothers) and as such, vital to any fan.

I disagree with Korly.

EtM is a decent game with or without the Matrix license. The gameplay engine is solid, the controls work great, and the Focus concept is well-executed. The driving portions are weak, but the core game stands on its own merits.

The Matrix content is icing on the cake.

I agree. It pains me to think that the developers are saying "well, this is a Matrix game, so we don't have to try that hard." Bullshit.

I mean, I don't know if the game is good or not, cuz I haven't played it (though it doesn't look that great) but either way, it's subpar gameplay shouldn't be tolerated just because it's a Matrix game.
