Anyone else have a problem with MSHvsSF not working with the 5in1

Sounds like you may have one of the older Action Replays, though I knew them as 4-in-1's rather than 5-in-1's. The older Action Replays were not fully compatible with both MSH vs. SF and Vampire Saviour. Later versions of the Action Replay corrected this problem. I have the same problem with that game and cartridge. The only way I resolved it was timing the cartridge swap, but I wouldn't recommend it.

see i thought it was something like that but the 5 in 1s (check the saturn hardware faq on gamefaqs for why some are called 5 in 1s) was not suppose to have this problem

and everything about mine matched the newer 5 in 1s ohhh well

hmmm maybe ill just mod my action replay instead

Xmen vs SF requires the 4 meg cart to play and will not boot without one inserted into your Saturn.

so then the 4 meg part is working it must be the modding being needed thats shown above

which i did open my action replay up and it does look to need that mod

but interestingly it has some other mod theres 2 wires coming off one chip and going to other points

i wonder what that is all about

im going to see if i can get the action replay mod done as a quick fix but i think im still just going to order a Mod chip and mod my saturn then i can use my official 4 meg cart

gamegizmo was the best place i knew to get a modchip. i got mine form them right before they closed. i never had good luck with those ems 4(5)in-1's. my old saturn had a toggle switch and a modchip and thus let me use the official 4meg ram cart. when i changed to this other system with just a mod chip and 5-in-1 i get the same errors. usually theyre chalked up to the cart connections getting loose and after fidgeting around for a while it works but then i dont want to play the game anymore :D

My action replay just stopped working about 3 months ago for all games that require the ram cart (metal slug, KOFs, vampire savior). Funny thing is though, about 2 weeks ago I popped Metal SLug in my saturn to try to boot it up - and it worked, as well as all my other ram cart games. The next day it stopped fucking working again, and i havent gotten it to work again since. Its a newer, Vampire Savior compatiable, AR as well.

Looks like i need to buy a japanese saturn.

much cheaper to get a country switch installed (if ncs still does them) and get the official memory ram.

Just to clarify, what you would need is a switch mod, not a mod chip. A mod chip only allows the playing of pirated/back up games, not imports. A switch mod allows you to toggle a switch between US and Japan. NCS still does the switch mod I believe. I use a Japanese Saturn though, so that's about all the help I can be.

wouldnt the mod chip alot the playing of imports also if its ignoring the security codes stuff on the disc
