An interesting Red Dead Revolver tidbit...

A little birdie told me some interesting information that I consider credible and thought I'd share it with my fellow TNL'ers. Here goes:

Red Dead Revolver was under development by Angel Studios (now Rockstar South) for Capcom. It's been in development for a few years now and has had varying problems during it's development. So much so that Capcom had to ship someone over to overlook development. Well, that someone appears to have been shipped back to Capcom Japan. It seems Capcom has lost interest in the project and have decided to give it up to Angel, uh, excuse me, Rockstar South to handle. Will it ever see a release? I hope so but I wonder if it fits in with Rockstar's portfolio. It might all depend on what state the project's currently in as well.

Man I hope the game comes out here, I see some potential in it and we need a good western game.

Yea, I'm pretty sure they did a switch off, and now Capcom is publishing GTA in Japan instead.

If that's the case then personally I feel Rockstar got screwed on that deal.

"In a deal apparently made during E3, Capcom will publish Grand Theft Auto in Japan, in return for Rockstar to be granted publishing rights for Red Dead Revolver in currently unspecified territories"

This was in the "Capcom to publish GTA in Japan??" topic.

Capcom has lost interest in it? That don't sound good.

Wow, and that I did not know. I guess I should have read more closely. I guess the information I heard a couple weeks ago was pretty accurate. It was just coincidentally posted along side the Capcom/GTA thread. Go figure.

What the heck is "Rockstar South"? Angel Studios is now Rockstar San Diego.

This is disheartening, as I was really looking forward to Red Dead Revolver.

I'm a sucker for westerns, especially good ones. It looked like a modern day Wild Guns, or Nam 75.

If it doesn't make it out, it will be the worst gaming day of my life, next to the time I paid for, and played Hoshigami.

I love western themed games(yeah all 3 of them...heh) so I was really looking forward to RDR. It definitely looked interesting. Heres to hoping that it comes out...

GRAH! This game better come out, and it better be good. I am really excited about this game, it looks pretty fantastic. I don't know if I like knowing that Rockstar was the major developer in all of this. It has gotten some more press coverage as of late, not a lot, but some and it never got any before. I watched a trailer for the game a few months back and it looked really freaking awesome, with music done by the legendary Ennio Morricone! Sigh, I hope it still comes out. I don't know if I can trust this birdie that Mr. Furious speaks of.

Well the info I've heard has been pretty accurate as the press release that Capcom made regarding GTA proved. I happen to know for a fact that the project has had more problems than Capcom cares for. Whether it comes out or not was just my speculation.
