Well, Harmonix's next game is Karaoke Revolution, which is being published by Konami (as I had mentioned in this thread). It'll probably sell better than either Frequency or Amplitude, since it'll probably be marketed as a spinoff of Dance Dance Revolution.Quote:

Personally, I was glad Amplitude even came out at all, because Frequency supposedly sold below Sony's expectations. I guess they felt that it was a good enough game that it deserved a sequel. As youandwhosearmy said, Sony does sometimes take some risks. They have developed or published games that are appealing to "hardcore" gamers or niche audiences, even if the mainstream public at large isn't interested. I believe this strategy has improved Sony's image as a producer of quality games, even if some of these games aren't huge mass-market blockbusters in terms of sales.
Sony has some good US development teams in their corner. Naughty Dog is an incredibly talented bunch of guys, having produced four Crash Bandicoot games on PlayStation, then continuing on PS2 with Jak & Daxter as well as the soon-to-be-released sequel. Incog Inc. has risen from the ashes of Singletrac, and brought forth games like Twisted Metal: Black and War of the Monsters. Eidetic seems to be doing well with the Syphon Filter games. The team that did The Mark of Kri obviously has some talent; I can't wait to hear what their next project is.Quote:

How many franchises have they ruined now? Oh, and Suckerpunch. Can't forget them.
I don't think Sony owns Sucker Punch (developers of Sly Cooper, for those who didn't pay attention), but it sure would be another feather in their cap if they did.
