I like Ratchet & Clank because it DOES offer something different. Being able to use all of the guns, the outside platforming levels with Clank as well as his super huge level, actually using all of the stuff you collect to buy more guns and ammo...It's not a perfect game, but it's very fun nonetheless. I'm sure it's about to be re-released as a greatest hit as well since the new one is coming, so ppl should at least give it a try at $19.99.

I'm not on any "side" here. I don't think Nintendo's 3D platformers are all that either.
And if I may be so bold as to continue this pointless off topic discussion, here's my deal in a nutshell: I strongly dislike not knowing if a game is actually really difficult by design or if I'm just getting fucked over by a weakass camera or some other little foible that the programmers couldn't fix that all the 3D platformer fans seem to be content to just live with and happily accept. I will not accept those discrepancies that are so readily overlooked by most of today's gamers. It's that simple. Until 3D platformers are as solid and playable as the 2D ones, you'll see me heaping hate on them. Especially the ones with sorryass character designs :)

I actually rather disliked Philosoma. There was another from the same developer that's a whole bunch worse though. I'm shocked that Philosoma was released in the USA but it does more wrong than right IMHO.
One of the things that really used to piss me off about Sony is that they reportedly would not allow DoDonPachi to be released in the USA on the Playstation and also stymied a DDP rerelease for the Japanese PS1. Yet they themselves published Philosoma.... I do not get it.
