I look at the same big picture, but instead of money saved, I think more in terms of volume of additional games that I want that I can squeeze into the budget.

well gunvalkyrie4life, going with your argument, you shouldn't even buy any console for the next generation --- just hold out until they all drop to the price you're willing to pay for. that way, you'd be saving a heck of a lot more money.
not necessarily.Quote:

i was implying that the money you save from not buying the games and systems then, would be put towards the games and systems you would buy (that have dropped in price). in other words, you'd still be able to play all the games you want at a very cheap price. however, you'd just be late on everything.
i know some people who do that right now. the first time they bought their PSOne was at the time it dropped to $100. they're playing most of the system's library of games right now, while we're all playing this generation's systems and games. they'll do the same once this generation drops to $100, all the while most of us will be playing PS3, xbox 2, etc.
But why would that matter? I guess it matters because we are all "hardcore" gamers, and thus always feel the need to play what is the newest and greatest. If only we can go back to being "casual" gamers...sigh.
I can't be bothered to read all of this thread either. You're still an idiot.Quote:

Actually, that I haven't determined, however I plan on measuring this by tallying up the scores, franchises, & games of this generation that I own and seeing who is on top, at this moment in time it's leaning toward Nintendo actually, with MS holding an Ace with Panzer Dragoon. Funny to look at this bulging market and see how few games are actually GOOD, and Nintendo seems to have the bulk.
(Oh, and I don't care much for RPG's)
Just buying one console is a mistake.
in a sense, yeah, this is true. it just depends on how much you are into gaming. some of my friends love gaming, but not enough to shell out $50 for most of their games, thus they are always one generation or so behind, in order to save money. we (the "hardcore"), however, are more passionate, thus it's harder to do so. to most of us, waiting a whole generation (or however longer or shorter) to play something like metroid prime is not worth the $X we save.Quote:

dood, it's me your talkng to, when have I ever bought a new game instead of the used one? only when there are no used ones (read: when the game is brand new). What I'm saying is, I'm not gonna wait till I can pay less, I eithercan right there or I can't, when I want the game I want it then. If there are already used copies, I'll deal with the sub parness of the case, but I'm never gonna wait to buy a game I want, epecially since case abuse is one of the consequences.Quote:

sure, i want my cases to be in mint condition, but im not going to buy the game new for $50 when i could get a used copy for $20, and the case has a litte wear on it.
Waiting till a game costs $30 is the key to life.
Unless it's like, amazingly good.
That's the key to bordome. I dont know how you could stand looking forward to a games release only to wait two more months to buy it. madness I tell you. True and pure madness.
A good majority of people on these boards, I've noticed, have to buy EVERYTHING as soon as it comes out, and really don't finish anything. Waiting the two months is EASY, because I've still got other games to FINISH that I spent good money on, unless you have the luxury of doing nothing but games.Quote:

Case in point, Xenosaga, Clock Tower 3, and ZoE 2 are all 30 each at Target... all three would be cheaper NOW, then two of those games brand new at 50 a piece. There's no point in buying everything as soon as it hits, unless it's, as Omnigear said, amazingly good.
