Two Towers Extended edition info

Well, sort of. The news is a bit old and I'm too lazy to hunt for the links. Go to the official site and you'll see proof. Anyways, the Two Towers Extended Edition will be 45 minutes longer. You can't beat that with a stick. Pretty much every bit of rumor about Return of the King's length is 4 hours long, and the most recent bit of news is that while the original cut is indeed 4 hours, the theatre release will be just a little over 3 hours.

I suppose the extended edition had to come out in November just like FotR did.

Ugh, it's going to take all my self control to keep from buying the normal version when it comes out this summer (Aug. 26).

Why would you want to? If it follows the trend set by Fellowship, both version will have something wonderful to offer. The theatrical cut was tighter and better-paced, while the extended edition had the fanboy geek-gasm stuff. I for one wouldn't dream of depriving myself of either.

I will just wait till November, like I did last year. No point in wasting money on getting multiple editions. And if you want to see it SOO MUCH, just rent the regular edition when it comes out in August.

June 12, 2003 - USA Today shed some light this week on what to expect from the Two Towers extended edition, which will be released on DVD this December to coincide with the opening of The Return of the King. The extra-length cut of the film has been finalized, and a private screening was given in Wellington, New Zealand, as a taste of things to come.

As previously reported, the extended edition will include an extra 43 minutes of cut footage, bringing the total running length to almost 4 hours. As with Fellowship, the extended Two Towers will probably be extensively re-edited. Here are some of the cut scenes that have been confirmed for TT:EE:

Boromir reappears in a lengthy flashback after his brother Faramir discovers the boat with his body winding down the river. The complicated fraternal and political relationship between Boromir and Faramir is given more explication, with the introduction of Denethor, their father and Steward of Gondor. This footage may originally have been intended for The Return of the King, the film in which Denethor is first supposed to appear.

More attention is focused on Eomer and his hardships, including the events leading to Theodred's death, and the inclusion of a mournful song sung by Eowyn at her cousin's funeral.

Again, as previously mentioned, more time will be spent on the Ents and Treebeard. The USA Today report did not mention the Huorns, who supposedly will assist in the victory at Helm's Deep (as they should have the first time around).

Several humorous moments involving food will be inserted, including some barely-palatable gruel that Eowyn cooks for Aragorn, and Ent-draught that makes Merry and Pippin grow a few inches taller.

The regular, non-extended Two Towers movie will be available for sale this August, several months before the Really Good Edition.

Hmm... good to see the Ent-draughts, and thus logically Pippin and Merry's physical growth in RotK, aren't being overlooked... more Boromir, definitely welcome... more character development for the Rohirrim, excellent... only thing missing is more Gandalf, I was very bugged that he just disappeared for 2 1/2 hours.

Quite obvious that it wasn't, or the extended edition wouldn't reality. ;)
