Any interesting dreams or nightmares?

Dreams are fascinating and all too often dismissed. Our dreamscapes are often as much a outlet of creativity as music, art, or writing. They can be pointless or reveal truth with sharp focus. That said, anyone have a dream/nightmare they want to share?


I had a very clear and cool but disturbing nightmare a few days ago. I work as a shift manager in a grocery store and the dream started out pretty boring. I was driving to work then doing random crap around the store. Suddenly everything went dark. The odd part was that it was afternoon and not only were the store lights off but the only light from the outside was a soft glow like a full moon. The store front has windows that are two stories high, looking out the windows the sun wasn't visible and it looked like solar flares streaking through the near black sky.

I start walking to the back of the store, ignoring what's going on outside and figuring there's a problem with a circuit breaker and the lights. All the while customers and employees are asking me normal questions like they don't notice what's going on. I walk through the double-doors that lead to the backroom. The lights are on here and a string of employees are coming downstairs from clocking in, I greet them and head back out into the store since the lights are back on. Stepping through the doors the store is the same but different. There's people with carts, food in the normal places but now the floor, ceiling, cold cases, and racks are all metal, like soft polished alumnium or copper. Everything is sterile and clean looking.

A woman stops me to ask a question. As she's talking I look over her shoulder and see tiled sections of the ceiling and floor begin rise and decend into ground like pistons, sometimes in patterns. I step backward and the woman quits talking to me and walks away. I watch a section of the ceiling slowly descend and a customer walks under it, seemingly getting smashed. As the ceiling raises again the person is simply gone, nothing messy or gory.

I'm staring at this and stumbling backward and end up bumping into a guy. I turn to face him and he looks pissed. He says "you shouldn't be here". I start walking up to the front of the store and look out the windows again. This time it's a gray cloudy day and the sky is shimmering for some reason. Then I look at the parking lot. Everything seems normal, people walking with carts, cars everywhere, one problem though. There are "waves" of metal ribbon/filings the size of water waves moving across the lot. Everything is dead quiet, everyone is going about their business, noticing nothing. I see people with carts walk into these waves as they fly along the ground and when the wave passes the cart is there but the person or people are gone. I see a car without a person driving it slowly come toward the window, eventually hitting the curb and stopping. And that's where I wake up.

That's cool. Pretty much anytime I have dreams they either suck or are full-on terrifying nightmares. There is a good side to the latter, however. I'll have nightmares that'll seem incredibly real to me, something awefull will happen in the dream and then I'm certain I'm in hell. Waking up after something like that and realizing it was just a dream can help you appreciate your time being alive and well. My last dream involved a local movie theatre, some bizarre folks that lived next to it, an Adam Sandler movie, and my dad getting killed. I was certain some crazy cult had killed Adam Sandler, then documented it, released in in a theatre near a motel where my dad and I were staying, and then they killed my dad while I was off watching the doc.

You may find this weird, and I certainly do too, but I haven't had a real nightmare in like 14 years. The only nightmares I've ever had were recurring ones in which I dreamt that my mother got taken away from me and had to live in this run-down, haunted house not too far from where I live. And this was when I was like 4.

I don't know why, but I haven't had any nightmares since. Just some weird dreams every now and then.

That's a really crazy dream, neo. The first thing that comes to mind is that you must've been in Hell. In the dream, I mean.

I'm not sure how it is for other people, but it seems like some peopele have control over what they do/say in their dreams. For me, my dreams are almost like movies. It's always or most of the time in third person.

Anyways, no really strange dreams that i can remember, but I did have this dream last night where i was playing a game that was Metroid and Donkey Kong Country mixed together.

Green, now that you mention it, I find nightmares tend to be much clearer than dreams like you are actually intereacting, most dreams seem like the distant, fuzzy third-person movies Darkcrow described.

I had a nightmare last night / this morning. I only remember the most disturbing part.

I was home alone, and something strange (which I can't recall) was going on. For some reason I came to the conclusion that my roommate's cats (which I like) had to be killed to stop the whatever, so I stuck long needles into the corners of their eyes. I guess this seemed humane or something in dream logic. It may also have been partially inspired by the unusual death of a certain character in X2, which I've recently seen.

However, while carrying one of the cats afterward (maybe to bury?) it became apparent that it was still alive and in pain. This made me very sad, and I felt completely hopeless about the prospects of fixing the damage I'd done. I woke up shortly thereafter, and, as I sometimes do, thanked god it was only a dream.

Neo, with all the machine symbolism in that dream, and you being the only one aware of something being horribly wrong, I must surmise you've been watching a bit too much Matrix. Might the pissed-off guy have been an Agent? ;)

I dream 3 or 4 times every night, and often they're lucid. (I highly recommend you research lucid dreaming and teach yourself how to do it.) I can't even begin to tell you how "interesting" they are :p

I had a dream where I was eating dinner with my family, and we were all concerned because Rambo was trying to kill us. After a while, Rambo cuts the power off to our house. In a wierd sort of panic, I react by stuffing as much mashed potatoes into my mouth as I can. We then ran to the car, and once we were in it, Rambo jumped on the bonnet all ninja like. Thats all I remember of it...


In another dream, my family and I are on a cruise ship. Nobody realiesd it, but the ship was infested with Vampire potatoes. They looked like regular potatoes, but with vampiric faces on them. The deal was that if you ate one, you'd become a vampire. No one else seemed to be able to see the faces, so they all thought I was crazy when I was screaming at people to drop their potatoes, which they were eating like apples.

In another dream, I was at my primary school, and I was in a locally famous soap opera called "Home and Away". For some reason, someone wanted to kill everybody, so he/she put an invisible saw between two trees. As people walked into it, it made a Panther roaring sound. Suddenly, I was in my back yard, and there was a huge pair of volumptuous, lucious lips floating in the sky. They asked me in a seductive voice "Are you Freddy Crouger(sp)?", and when I answered "No", the teeth became hidious and dirty. They screamed at me with such power that the wind made me fly through the air. The dream then repeated.

In another dream, I was at a place called londonderry (its a bushy farming area on the outskirts of Sydney). For some reason I was stalking Milla Jovovich, who apparently lived there. I was trying to break into her house so I could steal her note book so I could track her down that night and meet her. The house was gaurded by Automated sentry Turrets, and had lots of people in her yard playing a deathmatch game of Unreal. I can't remember the rest of this dream. I think I got arrested or something.

In another dream I was at a hybrid of my highschool and my primary school, and I was sitting on some seats in the playground with my late Cat, Shnook. I kept grabbing her head, and she'd scream " NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
" in a harsh, bloodcurdling shrill. I was thouroughly disturbed by it, but I kept doing it.

In a dream I had, I was in a dusty, rusty maze. I was apart of a small squadron of men and women who were there to destroy these killer robots. We finally ran into some, so we all took out our guns and fired away. The robots remained unhurt, and started shooting back. The robots shot sparks out of their guns, and I copped one in the ass. It burnt really bad, and I fell to the ground. All of the sudden, I'm upright again, and we get an idea. Instead of using guns to kill the robots, we started spraying them with shook up cans of soda. It worked, and we won the battle.

In another dream, I was in my primary schools teachers lounge. For some reason, they were shooting a movie there. I was hanging around, when my brother came up to me and said "You shouldn't see this! its rated R!" in a concerned voice. I was puzzled, so I looked over to the set, and a girl I knew from school was one of the actors. It was as though my vision collided with her, sending her flying through the air. She hit the wall behind her, and her head fell off. Green slime came out of her head and neck. The dream then repeated.


I find non-lucid dreams are more interesting, but lucid dreams are MUCH more fun ;) .

I've had one weird dream that I can remember:

In it was me and two of my friends just sitting around, eating a horde of bananas. I'm talking, like, a HUGE amount of banana's. (filling a house from wall to wall, floor to floor, floor to ceiling) When one of my friends was peeling the last banana skin, instead of banana fruit an elephant came out of the banana.

It was a full sized elephant and was incredibly weird. We looked at each other, and for some reason we all had foo-man-choos while doing this. I yell out: "Lets hitch a ride!" and we all climbed on to the elephants back. Our foo-man-choos were gone now, 5 seconds after that scenario.

So we rode around on this elephant and for some reason it was HUGE! The elephant was like a planet sizes or something and we all built our huts on it. Some guy named Mike Regan (who used to work for me, now works at a shotty news site called Gamingring.com) somehow got elected emporer. Me and my friends played a prank on him by pooring ice cold kool-aid on the steps to his palace and he fell. He had us expelled from the elephant in his embarrasment. So we were tossed off the side of the road.

Somehow, we thought that in order to escape our troubles we'd have to go on a road trip, and as soon as I said that a hippie van pulled up with all of my friends in it. So we yelled out that we wanted to go to China! Everybody agreed and we drove and drove, and finally we made it to something that resembled china.

It looked a lot like mexico, though. It was just mexico (the people were mexican but had chinese outfits on and there were pagodas in the background). We got dropped off and all of my friends went to an all you can eat buffet. Only the two friends that stayed were the ones who ate the banana horde with me. I told the others that buffets were addictive and we'd never see them again but they went anyway.

So we decided in that point in time, that we wanted to paint the sky green and the grass blue to screw everybody up! So we got a bucket of paint and painted the sky green and a bucket of paint for the grass. Once we did tha the world went out of control and everybody was going crazy in the confusion. (it wasn't even sky blue, either. It was like the X-P menu-bar blue). So the chinese government told us that we had to repaint everything the way it was and while we were on the way to go and paint the sky back to blue once more I woke up.

That was the weirdest dream I ever had.

I have the most realistic amazing fucked up dreams ever, in color and I remember every detail. I've even woken up shouting talking, punching and kicking things. All things but lots of sex, me getting killed, or accused of crimes I didn't do, many dreams of TNL members here, just talking or folks here getting involved in dreams. Not sure why I have so many dreams, I have a very hard time shutting my mind off, so I must come out with these crazy dreams, so my mind is always active to some extent. Or it could be the pills I take too, legal ones of course.

last time i had an insanely weird dream.

i was in a bus going to my dads house. Then suddenly i realized i was in las vegas. I then asked the bus driver if he heard that i was going to my dads house and he said your father lives in china. And all of the sudden we were in china and pandas were everywhere..but they were taking the places of humans and eating rice and tacos.

I visited the great wall of china and i met Hitler. He said "hello non-jew" then walked away, and i said "I AM JEWISH YOU SKANK"(even though i'm not). And all of the sudden the soviet union and the nazi's appeared there and took me to the electric chair to kill me. Then somehow i escaped ican't really remember how. And i pulled a peice of matzah out of my pocket and all of the nazis ran away. The soviet union then wanted me to be their leader, so i accepted. In russia i had a date with TATU and we went to six flags in america. I then woke up with a really bad headache..

The ones I can remember.

I had this dream 2 or 3 times where I was running away from a tornado and hid in a trailer and just hoped to god that the tornado wouldn't "find" me.

I had a really lengthy dream about something and I only remember the end result of my mom dancing around ny living room with this huge bug. It was like The Fly or some shit (he was orange though) and I was screaming at her to get away and I kept trying to hit him with a broom but I couldn't swing it hard enough to get him to let go.

Most recently I had a dream where my teeth were falling out. I could feel some were loose, and then they would just fall out. But some of the teeth were like 5 inches long and didn't look like they could have come from my mouth. I remember being able to feel the gaps in my mouth and then having even more teeth become loose.

I had a dream with freddy krueger, it was just like a movie where I was a witness to every single person he killed. And he FUCKED people up, I'm talking intestines flying around and shit. That was a really weird one.

I think I have the most reoccurring dreams out of anyone on the planet. I've had a loop of them going on for the past 10-15 years.

No major nightmares, though.

apparently I say very disturbing things in my sleep. My dad tried to wake me up for school one morning and he told me that I said "beware the wall of blood"

I have few disturbing dreams nowadays, but most of my nightmares seem to revolve around distortions of architecture.

When I was 14 or so, I had a long string of strange, seemingly acid-induced nightmares (despite the fact that I've never done any drugs other than alcohol in my life).

I don't really remember most of them, but the two that I do remember, I remember very well...

1. I dreamed of a white room, with a bunch of babies in it. But they weren't ordinary babies; they all had elongated arms and legs with long, talon-like fingernails. And their heads were on backwards. If that wasn't fucked enough, they were crawling on the walls much like a fly or a spider would. After a few minutes of that I woke up in an icy sweat, and ended up sleeping the rest of the night with the lights on.

2. THE VERY NEXT NIGHT, I dreamt of an old house's living-room with an old, withered man sitting in a chair before a fireplace. He was holding a plate of snails, and was pouring salt on them, shrivielling them up. Then he said something (I don't remember what, if it was even coherent) and then threw a big wad of salt upon a snake that was coiled up in a nearby doorway. The snake exploded in a huge puff of smoke, and in its place was a gigantic spiderweb at the top of the doorway, loaded with spiders that resembled ivory-white black widows. And then there was this woman standing right below the spiders, and she had a face that seemed half-frightened, half-insane, and she screamed "MISERY!!" Then I woke up screaming, which freaked my little brother out bad. I don't think I ever got back to sleep.

I swear I'm not making this shit up.

I've had a few stupid/funny dreams, like the time I was shopping for a pet fish at the South Plains Mall pet shop (if any Lubbock people come here, they probably know the place), but I was butt-naked. In place of one of the aquariums, there was a TV with the NES Wizards and Warriors game playing. Nothing really notable happened, it was just an absurd dream.

I havent had any real nightmares where people die or say freaky things, but I occasionaly have nightmares where a failed a huge test or forgot to turn something really important in only to wake up and realize that I already passed the test. Those are the only things that I wake up from and say "Oh shit!".
