Have you ever been driven to piracy?

I pirated hundreds of Commodore 64 games in the '80s. Was it wrong? Yes, even though I can't say they lost money on games I wouldn't have bought anyway. Do I regret it? No. The appreciation/memories/knowledge I have for classic computer gaming is something I would never want taken away from me.

I don't pirate games today unless it's emulation of old games and abandonware. It's not always legal but there's nothing morally wrong with it. I buy almost every classic compilation that gets released.

and many many games that were Arcade only releases that ive since dled and play through mame


allthough with thrill kill wasnt the game released in the UK so you could buy that version of it

No Thrill Kill was cancelled EVERYWHERE. If a Uk version existed, I would've bought it.

I was happily burning my money on Dreamcast games until copies finally came up. I didn't have any interest in the scene since I wanted Sega to be successful with Dreamcast. But what do you know, Jet Set Radio comes out... and I'm broke as a joke. I had just spent all my cash importing Power Stone 2, couldnt afford another $60 game. I eventually got my homie to get me a copy of that, and let's just say it was all downhill from there...

I started getting PSX copies out of pure greed. My friend had one with 100's of games so I had to get in on that mug. Wouldn't have played a lotta cool games like Bust a Move or Beatmania if I hadn't.

I bought a game in Korea. It was one of those XX-in-1 GameGear cartridges. Most of the games were SMS games or earlier Sega consoles, and many were just the same game at different speeds. It was great playing Ghost House (SMS) on my GameGear.

And I've got emulators for old consoles, 8-bit and 16-bit. (I would pay for the ROMs if they sold them like iTunes sells MP3s.)

Old games? Hell yes. I have more emulated crap on this PC than I do PC games.

Newer games? Yes, but to a much lesser extent.

I would say about half of my Dreamcast collection has a burnt copy to go along with it.

(edit: And, as a point of interest, I'm probably one of the few people (only?) on this board who has ever actually been "elite")

Now though? Nah. Though I wouldn't rule it out if I really wanted a game and had no other option to get it.
