Super Empire Strikes Back SNES

I don't know how I missed this game back in the day, I remember it getting an awesome review in GamePro but I never got around to purchasing it/playing it.

A few days ago I finally purchased it, I got it for $4.00 used.

I still haven't beaten the game yet, it's very hard, but it's frickin' awesome.

Great graphics, GREAT soundtrack & sound effects. The '3-D' levels don't look so hot by today's standards but they are great by 1993 standards.

Once you get a hang of the controls the game starts to get really fun.

If you haven't played this game yet, you must try it.

Super Return of the Jedi is my favorite of the three. :)

I only enjoyed the first one, and it hasn't aged that well.

I own all three games, and they are some of my favorite platformers on the system. Where have you been for the past 10 years? :p

The Force powers and epic boss encounters are what make this series so much fun. Unfortunately, SESB and SRoTJ would make terrible GBA ports, because they require more than 4 buttons.

I also don't think the GBA could handle the audio that these games deliver.

Shinobi128, I also bought Super Return of the Jedi but I've vowed not to play it until I get through SESB.

Empire did rule didnt it. I have all 3 still. I think the 2ns game was the best and the hardest. Gotta like those Vader battles!

Those games were great, but they were damn TOUGH! I only beat Jedi, and when I finally got out of the Death Star at the end I was jumping around I was so happy.

They were good but I didn't like them as much as most people did. The 3d levels were the best parts back then.

I remember the series having some controll issues, maybe I'm wrong but I think that's what ruined it for me back in the days.

Meh, the games were entertaining back in the day but I wouldn't hesitate to call Empire crap these days. The difficulty was high but it actually gets easier as the game progresses. I think Super RotJ is still fun but it's been long enough to require another play through to confirm this.

The Super Star Wars trilogy would have been A+++ had they only offered more reasonable difficulty. Really a shame.

I have all three, but didn't enjoy Jedi all that much.

Well, all three had difficulty settings... easy was easy and Jedi was balls hard, with the others in between. I don't get this complaint...

John and I both beat Super Star Wars and Super Empire Strikes Back on Jedi mode. He did RotJ, but I didn't have the drive. They were pretty hard, but not impossible. I enjoyed the difficulty. Well, back then all I had was the SNES, and I only had like 3 games a year, so I had time to master them.

If you want an impossible game, try Shadows of the Empire on Jedi.

I think those games are ok.. the problem isnt really the difficulty but instead its the length of the stages. They are far too long sometimes and I feel like I'm repeating the same 4 or 5 screens in each stage like 20 times. I also liked Return of the Jedi best as well.

I never cared for any of them. I never could get into it. I may have liked it if it wasn't Star Wars, but the games were too different from the movies. I just couldn't get past the "Man, that shit never happened." factor.

I loved all 3 games, they were the best games of the 16 bit era for me. (FOR ME, not you. ME. Opinion. Ok you too if you agree. I don't care.) Jedi was a bit too easy for me, but the other two were harder than anything. On Jedi. but that was half the fun.

I found the presentation excellent, but the actual games are too difficult and repetitive, I never beat any of them. Note that I never owned them back 'in the day'.

I liked the first one best. I have 'em all and I will play 'em (never beat the last two) but dingdang that Empire Strikes Back is a tuffy! I remember (from "the day") the icy bits causing me to throw controllers.....

I liked the last two games, the first one was lacking though. Empire's Hoth stage was, and is, fantastic.

The thing that kept bugging me in Super Empire Strikes Back was whenever I was playing as Luke and I'd try to duck and use my lightsaber on something he'd start blocking. It might seem like a dumb complaint but you'd be surprised how many times that got me kill! That's why I like Super Star Wars better, no blocking.

I hated the level design. In so many levels you could explore but could never see below you, so I was never sure if there were more platforms below or just a bottomless pit. That irritated me to no end, as I like to be able to see where I'm going. At least, that's what I remember most.

I might've liked them, but that flaw just ruined the games for me and I couldn't stand to play them. Thankfully, I only borrowed them from friends and never spent my money (actually, my parents money) on them.
