The drama was needed to explain his past and why he has the powers he has. It also made us understand the pro a little bit better, and invariably gave us a major ant to hate. The ending was very well done, the power they gave Father Banner was fitting with The Hulks power.
The more Hulk got enraged, the more he fed his father. His father took everything from him at the beginning of the movie, and had everything taken from him, too, so there was a little bit of foreshadowing.
The way the people above disliked it made it look cheesy, or out of place, or that it was all drama, which it wasn't. It made me have low expectations going in, and I was foolish for doing so. Good movie, probably a lot better then all the superhero movies I've seen so far, even Spiderman. Spiderman was alright, but I strongly dislike Toby McGuires acting. Just preference, I suppose, but he always seems to have some dorky look on his face when he's acting.
When they were in the reactor? Explain.
There was almost as much smashing as there was buildup. That one hulkout scene almost lasted for 30 minutes, not including the other 20 minutes of the other 2. There was a lot of drama, but you can't expect him not to explain what the hell was going on and why.
I think the second one will be better, because there won't be a necessary coverage of the backstory, but as the film is, it's very strong.
And no, there wasnt ENOUGH of Smashing going on. Plus Hulk really barely even smashed anything, other then 3 tanks, 2 helicopters and a lab. When he got to SF, I was expecting some more rampage then breaking the street and pushing cars downhill.
I dont think Bruce Banner even cared about talking with his dad, since during that scene it was Banner Senior who did all the talking anyway. It was done just for the reason that script required a climacting battle between father and son, and instead them proceed with it, we had to see through 10 minutes of Noltes wonderfull acting.Quote:

I agree that Darkman was a great film. Raimi did much better job with it than Lee, action was intense and didnt required millions of dollars to be spent on CGI that wasnt that impressive.

Dude there was enough smashing to go around. The first lab transformation, the Hulk dog fights, escaping from the military base, and the Hulk vs military fight were very impressive and extensive enough.Quote:

When he got to SF after falling from the sky, he came up off the ground pounded the ground which smashed up some cars and was about to smash some choppers and unleash some fury until he saw Betty. The military saw that this was his soft spot and used it to their advantage which led to the de-hulking. I certainly got my fill of action from Hulk, I don't know how much more destruction you expected short of a nuclear bomb.
Well they weren't exactly familiar with the creature until the end. They also didn't expect it to be so resiliant so they probably thought with what they had it was enough. They wouldn't have anything that could truly stop him so it would have been futile.Quote:

Were you people not paying any attention at all? Banner Sr. got to see Bruce because that was the deal he made in exchange for turning himself in.
I just saw it and liked it quite a bit.
I think the fact the the CG was sometimes cheesy added to the comic book feel of the movie.
Only thing I didn't like was the overuse of the multi-frame picture editing.
The last fight was strange. Not bad, just strange.

A road system, a military base, a whole research facility, a ton of cars, a huge tree, three huge mutant dogs and a whole house not to mention the action scenes of him doing it all. He smashed a lot. His son hates him. He hates what he made him. He didn't want to talk to him and he was trying to surpress his rage. Nolte did a good job of instigation, so much so that the viewer hated him at the end. Good job of buildup.Quote:

The movie was good for what it was, and did a great job of building up The Hulk and explaining his past while giving a ton of action to boot. That's a solid flick.

Exactly. Betty helped him, and Ross even said that he was doing this for his daughter and not either Banner. These kind of comments make me wonder if they had some preconcieved notion before going in.Quote:

Dyne actually made some good comments against it, the military seemed genuinely clueless in Ross. Bullets obviously weren't working, but in the movie they kept using stronger and stronger bullets and ammo, and eventually a bomb.
They didn't have any clue if they were hurting it or not until Betty calmed it down.
