I've heard from several sources that a modded PS2 could wear out the laser lens when playing PS1 games on it. Is this true? and technically how is this possible?
thanks!

Eh, it's a PS2, so that wouldn't shock me one bit. The system is a cheaply made piece of shit, I'm amazed it runs anything at all on it.
I doubt it's true.
good to hear that, because my PS2 is being moded as we speak...errr rather as we type! :)Quote:

Modded PS2s have also been proven to drastically lower sperm counts.

:wtf:
There's a lot of urban legends out there about the PS2, as everyone has mentioned this is one. If the lens dies it's because nothing on this planet has the death rate of a PS2. If game consoles used Darwinistic natural selection then PS2 would have been extinct about 2 years ago. The Gamecube, on the other hand, would roam the planet with mighty strides, consuming all in its path. Say what you will about the software library but Nintendo consoles live forever.

its not the mods that would ruin it but the dvdr's. people claim they're not burned exactly like an original and the laser works harder to read them. whatever. end of story.
[nitpick]Originals are pressed, not burned.[/nitpick]Quote:
