I was flipping through the channels last night, and while going past the Fox Family channel I noticed footage from E3, of all things, so of course I stopped and took a look. It turned out to be some Christian news program regarding video games. They had someone going around the floor at E3 interviewing the geekiest looking guys in existence, who were basically saying things like "oh, I love bloody, violent games" and stuff like that. They then talked to a guy that was so kind as to point out a so-called "children's game" game on display that featured zombies (no, not RE), and complained that current video game ratings don't mention if games deal with "witchcraft and the occult".
They then went back to the studio where some woman bitched that there weren't enough games that featured "Judeo-Christian" values and some old guy mentioned over and over the dumb-ass theory that the kids responsible for the Columbine shootings "had been inspired and had their killing skills honed by playing these cyber-videogames". Then another guy talked about a game he saw that, when the player did well in a level, he was rewarded with videos of naked women (I assume he meant BMX XXX, if so I can understand his disgust- not by the titties, but by the crap game itself). "This was NOT a graphic, ladies and gentleman, this was REAL." he dramatically said.
They then plugged their website and asked you to log in there and nominate any games that you feel represnet good values and morals (which would be awarded the "CyberSeal Award"). Here's the link:

Hey, I have nothing against making Christian videogames. I think everyone should have a genre of games that appeals to them available. I probably wouldn't play them (well, unless they were really, really, really good), but I'm sure plenty of people would. Here's an example of some holy games talked about at the CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network) site:
Sounds goofy, I know, but so does a Mosquito sim, huh? :) However,I was annoyed by the typical close-mindedness displayed by the "reporters" who pointed out all sorts of negative, stereotypical crap about games while neglecting to point out intelligent, non-religious games that don't rely solely on gallons of blood and pixilated boobs. While I'm not the biggest fan of it, I think ICO would be a good game to counter those arguements with. But at least thay're willing to give people an outlit at their site to point out good games. Maybe some of us should go there and let them know about the finer points of BMX XXX and it's deep-rooted "Judeo-Christian" moral fiber that they somehow overlooked. ;)Quote:
Games such as "Catechumen," set in ancient Rome, feature spectacular 3-D graphics and allow the player to take part in a fierce battle between good and evil. And in its newest game -- "Ominious Horizons" -- the player takes on the role of a 15th-century Christian who fights demons, but without any blood or gore. The forces of evil -- instead of dying -- fall to their knees and pray.
