Robbery victim runs over perps with his Hummer

I gotta go with the train of thought that says ol' Pete went overboard. I have no sympathy for the robbers, but what was done here is like getting shot at, running five blocks to grab your gun, going back to the place where you were shot at, killing the guy who shot at you and then claiming it was self-defense.

What Good Ol' Pete did was equally as stupid.

That said, if someone violated my private sanctum and it were within my means and ability to do so, you can bet your happy ass that hearty beatdowns would be administered before he could get out the door. That Xbox aint just for playing games and DVDs.

I mean, it is a bit extreme to chase down these guys and run them over. However, if he had a gun in the building and pulled it on him nobody would have thought anything. He would be just defending himself, and in that situation it is more likely that somebody would die, whether it was one of the criminals or him. If a citizen has the ability to take a situation in his own hands I think they should be allowed to do it. If their judgement is off then they have a right to be prosecuted, simple as that. Too many depend on the goverment to make everything right for him, when that is not what our country is founded on.

Besides, even if he is prosecuted he can EASILY get away with it on grounds of temporary insanity.

Actually, defense of property isn't a justification for use of deadly force in any jurisdiction I'm aware of. Although if the dude shows up in your bedroom, you have a pretty strong case for self-defense/defense of others.

I agree. It's reasonable force for possessions, deadly force for lives.

What Peter did was a bit exterme, but I certainly don't feel sorry for the crooks. People who rob other people deserve to get fucked up. I'm sure if I saw somebody break into my car and then run away I'd chase them until I couldn't run anymore.

I voted "No", but when I thought about it more, Peter endangered the public by following the robbers in the car. Either car could have injured or killed an innocent person in the pursuit. He should have just got the license plate and vehicle description, called the police and let them take it from there.

Anyway, great PR for the Hummer.

I think they got off easy. There are far bigger trucks this man could have came after them with. That one part of Bev hills cop comes to mind, the one with the 18-wheeler.

Exactly. People (especially people who own guns) should really read up on the laws pertaining to the use of deadly force. You can't just blow away someone who broke into your house without proving they were trying to kill you.
