Mulholland Drive
I just got Mulholland Drive on DVD last night, and it was by FAR the strangest movie experience I've had in a few years (including Memento. Memento wasn't weird, it was totally logical).
My question is for people who have the DVD.
If you look at the insert on the inside of the DVD case, it has 10 "clues" to unlcok the mystery of the movie. Has anyone solved these clues, or do you know of a web site that analyzes this type of thing?

I dunno about the DVD, but David Lynch is a great director and Mulholland Drive is a good movie. His work will never be mainstream though.

i bought the dvd on release and i gotta say that it's definitely strange. i'm not a lynch fan but after watching this i might check out his other stuff.
i noticed the 10 clues on the insert AFTER i watched it once. but even before i saw it i had an inkling of what i thought was happening in the movie. figured out i was right after i found this faq of sorts on the web. some of the things still boggle me though. if you do a search on the movie, there's this one site called the Salon or some shit. gives a pretty good look to everything you're confused about.

Well from my first viewing what I gathered was the majority of the movie was a dream this Diane Selwick character was having. I haven't thought too much about what characters each person was playing in the dream yet since I wanted to figure out the reality part of the movie which is the ending. One of the clues was about noticing the robe, the ashtray and a coffee cup. From what I could dicern their relevence is to put order to all the scenes, for example: The lady comes back to get her stuff from Dianne which is the person who wakes her from her dream. Anyways she goes opens the door and points her to her stuff. As she leaves she says "That's my ashtray." and then proceeds to take it with her therefore the ashtray is gone. Yet in another scene it's back to indicate that this is a memory in the past and not the present.
Then theres the key clue. I thought at first it was the old lady they were talking about but then at the end it was obvious it was about the dude whom she hired to kill Camilla/Rita, once the job was done she would find the blue key. So the clue asks "Who gives a key and why?" well the killer gives the key because he's killed the target.
That's all I can think of right now, I'll deffinitly go check out that web site though.

great movie. it takes a few viewings to grasp, but its worth it. i felt that the structure and theme was very similar to the lost highway, although i like mulholland drive more.
and a somewha related note, twin peaks fire walk with me sucks big time.

Did anyone ever figure out what those 10 "clues" meant?
-
not at all. i think i tried to figure them out once, but it got way to cerebral.

I wish there was like a GameFAQs, but for movies.
And that DVD Easter Egg page is too confusing. Maybe we need a DVD Easter Egg thread or page here at TNL.

I was going to see this movie, but after I saw "Eraserhead" I didn't think I could deal with it. Does Mullholland Drive at least attempt to be logical?
-
No, the movie is fucking stupid, I don't see how anybody could enjoy it.
Look! Miniature old people running out of a paper bag! That's deep!
