Try as the UCB and it's fans might, no one seems to be able to get Comedy Central to release the Upright Citizens Brigade TV show on DVD. One of the unofficial fansites for the comedy troupe suggests e-mailing comedy central. I know that won't work but, good god, I want my UCB on DVD!

If it ever were to come out on DVD, I'd buy it, but I'm satisfied with Comedy Central's descision to release Strangers with Candy on DVD.
Now all they have to do is put out a Wanderlust DVD and I'll be set.

Strangers With Candy (while not a bad show) was no where near as good as the UCB.

If I'm not mistaken the show was based on an improv school in NY of the same name. It was a shame to see such a brilliant show cancelled while Strangers With Candy was left to fester on the airwaves.
That is correct. There's a small theater in NYC called The UCB Theater where you can see improv shows regularly. I suggest seeing "Asscat 3000" (or something likethat, I forget the exact name) which is every Sunday night and ussually features at least 1 member of the UCB (from the TV show).Quote:

I've never been to one of their shows, but I have been in front of their little theatre. I took a picture of the closed gate, because it had the UCB logo painted on it...
Wow, that story was pointless.
Anyway, my favorite skit was the one where the dude went into a restaraunt and flashed a black light on some dude and said, "This man is covered in semen stains". That was gold, I can't really remember anything else. The show always came off as a poor man's version of The State.
My favorite episode was the "Super Cool" story. It was basically taking something to the like of Pixi Sticks and making it into an illegal drug.

UCB was every bit as good as The State, which is to say that it had flashes of brilliance dampened by many hours of bizarre, uneven mediocrity.
They really have an amazing live show though, at least when they divert from their script and do real improv. I saw them my senior year of college on a Comedy Central promo tour, great show.
