Does Homophobia Truly Exist...?

Lordperrin might be baising his comment on why the Catholic church said having protected sex in marrige was inmoral. The orginal logic behind that was that men had so much sperm to use, so by waisting it, he was killing a potential human being.

I forget what there justification for not using it is now, there may not in fact be one accepted reason. The last one I recall reading had something to do with Natural order. That may be a crack pot idea and not the actual churches standing on it. I find it sort of silly myself, when much of the moral code of the church is about resisting your primal animal like urgies and acting like a smart human being.

Who cares if 2 men or 2 women want to hook up or get married?

I sure don't. More power to them.

The justification for not using contraception is to leave the amount of children you have in Jesus's hands and he'll give you the right amount that he wants you to have.

The reason is the same. They take the passage about "spilling seed" to mean that the spilling of the seed is the sin being punished, when that is obviously not the case.

That's not to say there is no merit to their stance...but it is rather detracting to one's message when instead of basing a decision or belief on one's own authority, in this case the authority of the Roman Catholic Church, they make up meaning to place behind verses where that particular meaning was never writen-in in the first place.

Well, I can see how insecure people would be upset by this. I mean, they must feel pretty cheaped when 'them damn homo's' get married.

Sad, really.

I do however enjoying going to church there more than I do pro chruches.

The degree of reverence expressed therein is definitly an experience I would encourage others to seek.

I'm not anti-Catholic, but some of their doctrines are a bit funky.

In their defence, they can, in fact, trace their papel line all the way back to Peter the apostle. They really do have apostolic authority, and not just because they say so.

Anyway, why don't Christians just support gay marriage? If the whole problem is with the gay-sex-out-of-marriage-equaling-sin thing, why not just let gay folks get married so they can make the same choice as other Christians?

Considering that most C & C's see it as an abomination before God, that's not likely.

That's fine, they are entitled to their opinion but Gay people should have the same rights as any other people.

Let them get married and deal with divorce and fighting over the keys to the Miata or VW Bug.
