Bullshit, I cry. Desperate scare tactic to try and get people to stop using Kazaa because they have no way of shutting it down (thanks to a pure stroke of business genius.) What smart person uses Kazaa anymore anyways?
Well, I know a guy who knows a guy that's already been fined, so I wouldn't call bullshit in this case.
They'll try to hit a few, no doubt it my mind about that, but a claim like this:
I do not buy at all.Quote:
The RIAA said it expected to file "at least several hundred lawsuits" within eight to 10 weeks but will continue to file lawsuits afterward on a regular basis.
It's amazing how long it's taking labels to realize people will start buying CDs again when they stop padding prices to absurd amounts.
I don't use Kazaa or other P2P file sharing software. However, I wonder where the RIAA expects people to come up with all that money. For some people targeted, the judgements could be in the $100M range.

Welcome to Courtroom Keno! Today's contestant is Carey Sherman, playing for the Fatcats Preying Upon The Average Joes team.
Earth to record companies- lower your fucking prices on CDs and more people will buy. $10 is enough to keep your record company executives driving their Ferraris, eating at Smith & Wollensky every night, etc. - and it may actually be more lucrative considering a lower price can boost sales.
RIAA will cause a backlash with their lawsuits. You cannot make an omelette without breaking eggshells.
you know, this is getting more and more annoying, riaa wants war, it is going to have it. we cut their business 20 % they could get smart, like apple is currently doing, and offer to sell people what they want, or they can start threatening, there will be a substantial backlash, and they can expect to be hit much harder. fuck me if i ever buy another major lable cd, chrstian and ska music have a fine independent scene, so i am set for what i need.
(edited to add my other favorite type of music)
Kazaa users steal from record companies and record companies steal from artists. I call it a fair trade.
This sounds like bullshit to me. Besides, how do they find out this info? If it's by the amount of shared MP3s... I won't have to worry about that, since I don't. I think I'll just take from other people then not give back.
Just curious, why is it they can't shut Kazaa down? They got NapsterQuote:
