Well, with a library, only one copy of something is being used. Whereas with "file sharing" that one copy usually ends up being many, many copies.

Either way its info being shared. Is that author making a profit every time someone reads his book?Quote:

No, but musicians don't get paid every time someone listens to a song, like on the radio, for instance.
Actually a record company does get paid for air play if i'm not mistaken.
actually they don't, but somehow someone decided that internet radio was different, and starting last fall they had to pay. Many college stations can't afford it because schools will not increase thier budget. Thanks for fucking people over! All the policy makers are to old to understand technology, so they listen to "experts" who just want to make more money.Quote:

What they are doing is so immoral.
they can go fuck themselves.
I'm not really sure how to properly use the PG update. I saved the file, and named it the same as the file I'm supposed to replace, but it didn't overwrite it. Am I supposed to just delete the old file?
I know that, but if I just happen to be on a program and someone downloads my files how is that my fault.Quote:
Its not about having mp3s on your computer, its about sharing those mp3s with the people.
Well, you are willingly allowing them to do so, for one thing. You can usually cancel a download from someone else at anytime. Or, as I said earlier, you can just select to not share the files.
Here's more shit- namely, regarding the TCPA (Trusted Computing Paranoid Assholes... er, Platform Alliance) & Palladium. www.boycott-riaa.com has a story up on it now. Also see www.cl.cam.ac.uk/users/rja14/tcpa-faq.html .
I wonder how fast the JD will be on Microsoft over this. Hopefully Palladium will tank.
My next PC will be Linux powered. Bill Gates can talk to the hand.
